For sure the fresh ones are not ovoids I also dont know about caerulipes, as I'm not really to sure of the differences

Took a peak inside one of the wood chip patches started with spores->pf cake->wood chips and it looks to be taking off well.  Someone recommended apple BBQ smoking chips and it looks like ovoids really like apple wood over some of the stuff in the mixed hardwood chips. I also made two patches in natural environments just like where I found ovoids down closer to the ohio river, so hopefully something will get established semi-permanent.

Got my fingers crossed for even a meager fall/winter flush, but if not I think I am in good shape for next spring.

Thanks good to know someone likes my photography haha those were from a extra cake i had that i stuck under some moss and watched em fruit. Those look like some tasty gyms ive yet to find any that werent to rotten to consume.

DC just had its 4th driest September on record with just .25” for the entire month. It looks like California over here. All the grasses are dried out and brown.

Dry as fudge here too.  I've backed packed water over to a few patches numerous times when it was long times between rains.

I am trying to ice down one wood chip mulch bed project.  I made blocks of ice in cooking pans and have kept one patch covered in ice for the last 48 hours or so.  The patch was started this May or June so and has colonized at least 18" x 18" area.  Might still be too early, but it's an experiment.

Been raining in North Jersey sporadically, my large patch has very strong mycelium growth but I believe it's not wet or cold enough currently. experimenting with home tubs, no luck yet

Same down here in CNJ. I thought that big rain we got last week was going to bring some mushrooms out, but that was before I realized just how dry it's been. We'll need a few more good days of rain I think

It essentially has not rained in the DC area for almost two months. I’ve never seen it like this.
