That's exactly what I thought lol. I have taken a lot of business classes, and they certainly weren't eye-opening.

Some really aren't that "eye-opening", that's why my own curiosity outside of university taught me so much more, I have always said if someone can't understand economics, they can't understand most issues because it's always interconnected.

You have a confirmation bias, which allows you to tune out all conflicting information. That's why you're under the delusion that Falcon has never proven your thoughts on economics to be wrong.

i don't want to make this personal qman. and i don't have any preference for how you express your views. they're your views. but you seem to see things the way i believe you were taught to see them in business school. your morals are relativist, your justifications for the majority of your arguments are neoliberalist ('libertarian'), and you approach economics not as if it were a set of philosophical views on distribution, but rather a religious school of thought. all of that falls in line with having earned a business degree (especially in the 80s and 90s when a lot of those ideas were new).

never mind the fact that every business major i've ever encountered thinks and speaks just like you; i can pull up the times, the wall street journal, business week, forbes or whatever and point to the same sets of values and behavior there. that's very strange when you think about it. and it just cannot be the case that you are all right. this shit show of a world we have at the moment would seem to crush any hope of making such a claim. but that certainly doesn't stop you folks from trying.

as far as your "insight" on college and college students goes, that seems anecdotal. i'm finishing up my undergrad at a university. i'm a philosophy major and i have never seen it. i'll grant that that's anecdotal as well. i'm sure campuses like uc berkeley have their fair share of loons. but i think certain elements of the media takes that stuff and blows it out of proportion to promote the view that the youth are not meant to be taken seriously, which of course benefits the business world. it's easy to underpay and overwork a bunch of whiny, know-nothing pussies.

I think very highly of my nieces, they are both in the hard science fields and are doing very well. They just tell me some of their experiences that they might not agree with on campus.

Falcon has proven me wrong in some instances, I have no issue acknowledging that reality.

"every business major I've encountered thinks and speaks just like you"

I disagree, I'm hardly a cookie-cutter business minded individual. Many of those people never think outside of their box, in fact I usually disagree with many of their mainstream opinions on the state of the economy.

If you want to speak to a true mainstream business major, Falcon would be your man.

i'm genuinely interested in where you dissent from the majority. i could be mistaken on how i interpret what you're saying. i'm open to that. we generally disagree when we talk, but we have agreed on certain things in the past too.

Here are a few mainstream economic issues I oppose-

!. Globalization-  I have no issue with free trade, but that's NOT what we practice today.

2. Legal and illegal immigration- Most in the mainstream business community think importing labor into the US is a great idea even when the average US working is struggling, I disagree.

3. The bailouts of the banking system- I don't think rewarding unethical and poor behavior is a good idea.

4. The Federal Reserve- I don't think a committee of a few people should be controlling interest rates and buying assets with money that doesn't exist.

5 A gold standard- I believe currency should be backed by real money- gold, mainstream economists love their fiat money games.

coin-grats, you've pointed out precisely what everyone else believes should be the bullet-point issues on the table.

Heard some interesting grey matter material from a Crowder interview of Jordan Peterson regarding the psychology behind the different bubbles and the type of personalities and traits of the left/right. It's all good, but 8:00 in is a good starting point.

There is a republican from Texas that introduced a bill to make major cuts in social security.  Start saving money now, cause there won't be any retirement or disability.  Unless you make less than 22,000 a year your whole life.

I think it's fairy well known that the US government has indirectly funded these groups. She said as much. What are you trying to say?

i think her final statement was interesting.

i'd agree with her, but then these generals, for the most part, are usually fans of a bloated military budget, which, ultimately, serves to deplete the resource pool, resources that definitely could be used elsewhere in-country.

so if the interventionism was halted...and settling the beef with Russia and China was possible...if they followed suit, that is...then the ideal military budget for these generals could be a smaller amount of the resource pool, then i would agree with her premise.

if....

I think they have to be looked at individually, rather than as a group. They are each individual people, with individual ideals, and individual histories.

fair enough; i agree; but that's a standard too difficult bear concerning the notion of propagating an idea in this dichotomous left-right paradigm of media exposure/political gain.
