God - The Ultimate Drug Manufacturer
    #11796159 -

Every other illegal drug manufacturer is generally viewed as 'evil' with no redeeming social value - a tool of the devil. God grows more pot and shrooms than all humans combined, yet is seen as 'good'.

Other than the standard 'religious folks are irrational', can anyone explain this?

If he came in human form again (*), should he be arrested for trafficking?

Seems like a good enough explanation to me.

If our laws applied to him, then technically, yes.

Obviously every organism that belongs to the plant kingdom is non-human; what do you mean by intelligences? Are you suggesting that there are intelligent plants?

How did we replace Earth with a man? Are you just saying that humans are fucking up the Earth? :earth:

You want the honest answer no one here will likely give?  Drugs are illegal because people fear them.  Parents fear loosing control of their children as a result of drugs.  Families generally have some example of a loser bastard fuckup drugaddict to justify their fear, too.

The logic is pretty rational.  People start of as nice little kids, grow up, try drugs, then become wastes of life.  Now, the main thing at issue is, did the drugs make them a waste of life, or did the waste of life just gravitate towards drugs?  Who knows, it is probably a viscous cycle to some extent, so on some level it is rational to keep drugs out of the hands of idiots who are a danger to themselves.

Yes yes, the tired libertarian lines come to mind.  Well, no one can speek for the rights of those who destroy themselves, all that's left are their weeping families placing blame on drugs, the common denominator.

And laws/social mores aren't made by the minority.

That's who I am to my family.

For me, though, I actually plan on going back to school and obtaining a college degree; neither of my immediate family members except for my mom has one, so they can all kiss my ass. :ass:

My family thinks that drugs, namely ecstasy, fucked me up, but I just tell them that it helped me face issues that I was suppressing.

No it isn't, let people fuck themselves up, it's none of nobody's business. :noway:

Nor should they exist.

Idk, I think it can be.  Maybe not all people with all drugs, but the right combination can be bad, especially with alcohol/coke.

"Nor should they exist. "

Spare me, I don't really have an opinion either way.

Do you believe that suicide should be illegal?

There was once an online discussion about drug legalization. Some UK mom who had lost a daughter was very vociferous and strongly against it.

I asked her simply how making drugs illegal had protected her daughter. She was quiet for quite some time.

Yeah, people see the problem and the immediate response is illegalization.  Start a war against it as an enemy, the "War on drugs."

I think this is more because illegalization is one of the few ways we have of controling anything, let alone drugs.  It is the quickest thing to legislate, and in response to fear one of the most agreeable, because it is also one of the most drastic.  People like to hear about strong action, not reasoned response.

I don't really blame them, everyone is entitled to respond to threats in their environment as they see fit.  Let the strong actions turn out to be too blunt, too harmful, and we'll get smart and start using more efficient methods.  There's quite a learning curve though, because there is a lot of fear.  Fear is never justified, but tell that to crying idiots who dont feel they need to be rational because the lives of their relatives are more important.  It is in times of the greatest trial and tribulation that reason is needed the most, yet it is the time when it fails the easiest in soft-minded people.

I think people also may have too much optimism in the power of the law.  If illegalizing drugs actually prevented people from using them then prohibition might actually reduce suffering in the population as a whole, but as it stands making drugs illegal does nothing but provide an easy source of money to organized crime and cause suffering to responsible drug users.

What I found even more interesting about the UK mom was that she (and probably a zillion others) thought England's 'Opium War' with China in the 1800s was about preventing the influx of opium, when in fact, it was quite the opposite: England was smuggling opium into China imported from India. The war was sparked by a huge trade imbalance with China and not because of any moral stance by England.
