from a biological stand point i guess that does make you useless. but you aren't useless. if you contribute to civilization you're in no way useless. anyone that works has a use.

If you don't reproduce but live forever you can be more useful than one that does reproduce but dies of age.

usefulness comes from ability and contributions.
