But then so is eating shellfish or getting a tattoo. It's silly to equate things just because some book says that God doesn't like them. The world would be a much better place if we examined everything on its own merits.

I thought I made it clear I did understand your post and then asked what they had to do with anything?  You quoted all sorts of leviticus crap and I said that isn't followed by christians, and then you keep repeating its in the bible (which I still can't see the relevance of) and seemingly trying to goad me into a defense of christianity or a discussion on what the bible should mean or something- when these are irrelevant.

Christians don't follow leviticus, I don't care if you think that's ill advised, its not the discussion.

Huh?  The law was to cast stones untill the person was dead.  Jesus said don't do it.  Therefore, he told them not to follow that law.

Whether you think the christian interpretation to have merit or not isn't really relevant to my point: which was only that your laundry list of leviticus laws doesn't really inform christian belief since they don't follow them anyways.

Jesus did not eat shelfish nor did any of the prophets, nor did any of them have tattoos, id imagine.

So why think that he would say they are OK by god?

I'm trying to make the same point that Johnm214 is making, but from a different angle: that Christians don't follow Leviticus. Johnm214 has shown that Jesus himself said, several times, that you don't need to follow all the rules in the Old Testament. The Sermon on the Mount is one of the most famous examples of this.

And I'm just pointing out that no one, apart from the most insane speaking-in-tongues fanatic, follows all the rules in Leviticus. And if you're going to pick and choose which rules to follow (as Jesus said we could), then you lose your moral authority to claim that homosexuality is a sin. You would have to follow every single stupid rule in the Old Testament to be able to cast that stone.

OT:

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Jesus never nullified the OT law, he fulfilled it.  He was born under it, followed it exactly as it was written.  The whole gospel, the law and grace, are fulfilled in Christ, who is the sum and substance of what the OT was pointing to.

Yet many things he said directly contradict the OT.

This is not unusual in the bible. It's full of contradictions.
