If there's no God why do you wonder about it so much?
    #6245137 -

Wouldn't it be stupid to evolve minds that have a huge thirst for knowing for certain whether or not there is actually a God? Wouldn't it be a waste as it would surley be more beneficial to just not ponder such things and use our energy to just reproduce like the bacteria most people must think we are? It just doesn't make sense! Things should make sense! It would make sense that there is a God because we think about it so damn much. Nothing is more fascinating to humanity than God - look through history! This will not change either I bet you! I bet were gonna find where this elusive God has been hiding! And I bet God's been hiding right before your very eyes! Just a guess! Maybe you are God! It could happen!

What if there were only two forces in the universe - love and fear. What if God was infinite love and fear was just parts of the infinite that had forgotten that they were infinite love? And what if they soon remember this? They would have nothing to fear any longer because they would know that everything is infinite love and that is certainly nothing to be afarid of!

Love everything fear nothing! Your life will rock! Listen to your feelings they are YOU. Don't doubt things that make sense to you doubt=fear. Nothing to fear I betcha! I bet you will see soon!

People examine the truth of God because the use of the concept has helped societies, religions and families survive and prosper in the past. Therefore, those societies, religions and families who observed and often thought about God had more unifying factors with their society, giving the society a greater chance of surviving and passing on this neurotic obsession to the next generation of neurotic apes.

Everything life expends energy on is useful and created through tried and tested natural selection, but with human energy sometimes you have to look deeper to see the roots.

Clearly, however, the truth of your statement, that people's obsession with thinking about God supports the existence of God, is not logically sound. In human history, the creation of monotheistic religions and one God is relatively recent- before that, people were obsessing with many gods, with plant and earth spirits and the souls of their ancestors. The fact is that human obsessions confirm the truth of absolutely nothing, but only show what works best for human survival in that specific environment up to that point in time. As time goes on, and God becomes more and more useless, this obsession will probably die out and humanity will have to fixate on something else useful to our survival.

You have many good points. I do not think God is some personalized being who is seperate from us. Really I think we forgot that we are God! And so are the trees and the sun and the water and all that stuff that comes together in incredible ways to give us life. We've all been wondering why the fuck the world would be so fucked up if there is a God so therefore there must not be. But it is because we forgot that it is us! And now were gonna remember! It is all the same stuff! Atoms are all the same! We're all the same! I'll bet you money! What if everything that exists is God? How do you know if anything exists? Ask yourself! You can ask "Yo self do I exist" and you can answer back "Yes" cuz you do! What if God is just a label that confuses you from seeing that things are just what they are and not what you label them as? Wouldn't it be kind of funny if all of this happened to be true? And then we'd all have something to laugh about because that is the point of everything anyway is to laugh and have fun. It just makes sense! I must be crazy! I like psychedelic drugs a lot! Its cool because we already have the best one in our mind (DMT) and is possible to use it anytime!

you seem to be making many grand assumptions, and saying "I bet" and "what if" alot.  While you raise interesting questions, you are all over the place.  And since this is P&S, i'm calling it out.

The mind can be used towards whatever end we desire. We create our own path. I think you mean to phrase your question thusly "Wouldn't it be stupid to have a huge thirst for knowing for certain whether or not there is actually a God?"?

To which, I would respond that, yes, it is stupid, first and foremost because it is question that cannot be answered, and does not pertain to reality anyways.

Quote:

It just doesn't make sense! Things should make sense!

Sounds like an expectation of reality to me. "Sense" is a human concept. Reality has no regard for what humans think should be evidenced within reality.

Quote:
It would make sense that there is a God because we think about it so damn much.

Thinking about something a lot is not proof of an existance of a suspossed aspect of reality. :sorry:

I think you are right, that people will always make up some concept and then try to substantiate its existance in some matter, even if they eventually identify the concept as simply representing themself.

Quote:
What if there were only two forces in the universe - love and fear.

Nice contemplation, but the reality of the matter is that there is such a thing known as gravitational force, magnetic forces, centrifugal forces, etc. etc. etc. Ultimately, there are only four fundamental forces of nature - the strong force, the electromagnetic force, the weak force, and the gravitational force.

Odd, love and fear were not listed!

Quote:
What if God was infinite love and fear was just parts of the infinite that had forgotten that they were infinite love? And what if they soon remember this? They would have nothing to fear any longer because they would know that everything is infinite love and that is certainly nothing to be afarid of!

Indeed, what if. Endless speculation that reality dicates will never be substantiated or fufilled.

There's a God but he's not like WE described him in religion. God is everything our 5 senses can feel. No humans ain't a part of God that's the reality and we have to accept it. We're just part of his evolution. First giant lizards(Dinosaurs), 2nd Humans who think they are the world(to much ego), 3rd we don't know whats next. We are only a part in a Life time. The Nature(God) will make Humans evaporate by themselves with polution, war etc. In the prehistoric era he needed a Meteor from space, but we Humans can do it without help. Simple

Check the wording of this post, especially the use of the word "he"and "him". This sounds like a religious viewpoint dressed up IMO. The idea of a "God" "or singular conscious force" is IMO quite different then what you are ascribing to his post.

an even better question would be: if theres no god, why do you wonder about what other people wonder so much?

Well if a large number of people started worshiping some mythical being, such as the Gingerbread Man, might you not start wondering a little bit what the hell was going on?

There is a snod, as well, but all previous descriptions of the snod except for the one that I personally created are wrong. :smirk:

Quote:
God is everything our 5 senses can feel.

A.) Senses don't "feel" anything.

B.) I can state that snod is reality, the environment which we perceive. Do you know what would be more practical, though? Calling reality "reality" and our environment "our environment". It is not necessarily to adopt a preconceived notion of a snod and then start to change it to maintain its meme in lieu of its unsubstantiated existance.

Quote:
No humans ain't a part of God that's the reality and we have to accept it.

A.) Ain't isn't a word.

B.) You provide no basis for the conclusion that we have to accept a notion that is poorly defined and not represented in reality. Unsubstansive nothings are not imperative.

Quote:
We're just part of his evolution.

At this point, we are off over the clouds in unsubstantiated conclusion land. The basis for the notion of a snod is not even provided to us by reality, so it is not productive, and is, in fact, obstructive to even propose more conclusions, as though that basis was provided. This statement is not descriptive of reality, so why should we even consider it to have any value?

Quote:
First giant lizards(Dinosaurs), 2nd Humans who think they are the world(to much ego), 3rd we don't know whats next.

First dinosaurs, and then humans? Hhhm.... I think evolution occured in a bit more complex of a manner then that.

Not sure what this statement has to do about any notion of a snod, anyways.

Quote:
We are only a part in a Life time. The Nature(God) will make Humans evaporate by themselves with polution, war etc.

:wtf:

You do not know how the human race will progress. :sorry: If you do, please do so elaborate on how exactly you came to be aware of the future of the human race.

Quote:
In the prehistoric era he needed a Meteor from space, but we Humans can do it without help. Simple

Quite simple indeed. Reality and its nature is complex. I think one could appreciate the disparity between the nature of reality and your conclusion as to the nature of reality.
