When I say "myths" - this is refering to myths proper.

I get your ideas tho. Didja know schools are know leaning towards Leaf Ericson, or to put it more clearly - historical accuracy? Yeah, I can remember "Chis Colombus sailed the ocean blue in 1492" so I could circle a "B" on my multiple choice test on history. Just great! He called the indiginous peoples Indians (thinking he circumnavigated the globe to India, where Indians live) and now the endless varieties of Native Americans are grouped into a WORD. Somebody fix this!

Bullshit is bullshit, and do you think alot of people are, not just realizing it, but, getting fed up and sick and tired of it all?

The old white bearded man (mmm, ref. to Santa? perhaps nowadays?) is comprehensible. I don't see anything wrong with it to introduce someone to the 'concept' of god. Gotta start somewhere. However, in many religions I do see an upper plateau people cannot surpass. They end up with a complete description of the EXPERIENCE, and miss the whole ESSENCE of religion.

Religion is the foundation for something wonderful. Something absolutely wonderful. I can only say this much.

I am God.

People only believe in god because they are scared or they want something, most only believe in what he can do for them.

if god didnt exist that doesnt mean love and beauty wouldnt exist anymore because they are real even more real than your god

While this may in fact be true of some, even many people, it is not true of all people. I never really believed in anything, even as a boy when I attended church every sunday. Like so many people I didn't care either way about any God.
One day, I had a very powerful experience, and then for awhile everything was clear... I don't really remember any of it too clearly now, but I've never really gone back to my old beliefs. I don't know the whole story behind "God", whether it's the christian one, Buddha, Lucifer, Ala... (I think I mentioned this before...). I'm pretty sure there is something though. If there isn't, well, it's no big deal. If there is, that's great.
You don't have to believe that there is a God. Even if someone showed you proof, would you accept it? If you could show us all proof that there is no God, would that make you happy?

Well, Jesus was a real guy, that I'm fairly sure of. And Jesus said some interesting things.
Jesus said, "Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find, they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will reign over all. [And after they have reigned they will rest.]"
Well, I'm still seeking. I'm not just accepting that "There is a god and if you are good you will go to heaven when you die." I'm not convinced about the whole "heaven" thing either. I'm sure it's not quite how everyone thinks it is if it in fact exists.

I don't want anything from God. God hasn't given me anything to make me love him. I don't think God works like that anyhow, he's not some cosmic puppet master (did someone else say that, or was it me?). He doesn't send tidal waves crashing into cities or set your house on fire or kill your daughter... Nor does he give you money and cars...

I think that God may in fact be knowledge... or something along those lines. Well, not literally, I can't explain it yet...

By the way, I have sought until I became disturbed, it wasn't too hard... I hope it doesn't get much more disturbing before I reign over all... ;)

A very Happy Thanksgiving to ya! Rose and I cooked (a free-range) turkey, but it was just us. We took plates to my Dad and to her Mom, who happens to to be recperating from hip replacement surgery in my Dad's nursing home - right across from his room! Interesting, very interesting karmic thing. Hope to have you to dinner at some point. L'Chaim!

I discovered God through a combination of transcendental, or mystical inner experience, and the faith in ancient wisdom recorded in a variety of scriptures. My faith is as a Jewish Christian Gnostic, because my scriptural faith is conjoined to inner experience or gnosis. Experiences of a mystical nature preceded my knowledge of scriptures. You will need to learn that your individual sense of being - of identity - derives from Being Itself. Until you 'realize' that you are not just a 'wave' that comes into existence and leaves, but the very Ocean from which the wave emerges and then merges with - you will never have an answer to your questions.

..I have heard of Tolle, he lives in Vancouver - 12 hours from where I live. I wouldn't mind going to one of his workshop when he comes to town.

Heeeehe. I'm 35 and still alive (although look 26)...  juuuust old enough to realize 10 years extra under one's belt IS a hellalot (Californian term, my point of origin was San Francisco General Hospital @ 1:30am) of life experience. :wink:

Mmmm, on the subject of this thread... here's one for ya'll: Do you believe in MIRACLES? (I do) Sorry, I can't explain. It's like this: You'd have had to be there. Does this confirm my belief in god? Why of course. Does this confirm my knowledge of the Truth of God? Absolutely!

I would venture to say, perhaps if circumstances work out, I would like to meet you and, your wife one day. :smile: (Really)

We live in Florida. I've camped around the USA but never been to California - which I regret. Never caught the Dead in SF and was offered a ticket - invited to Concord CA for years.

My wife gets carded for alcohol at age 45. I rarely get perceived as late 20's, now I hear 30, but some dingy middle school kids have thought that I was a student as recently as last year. Now this just means that people pick up something 'youthful' from my 'field' or movement, as well as 'boyish' looks. Im 48. This seems to be an energy phenomenon that outweighs mere visual perception during an encounter. It is an aspect of 'mind over matter,' because I don't identify mentally with my 'chronological self,' if that makes any sense. Spending 'time' outside of time allows one to identify oneself with a more dynamic or energetic notion of self, moreso than a physical-social self. Yet the impact of identifying oneself more as 'spiritual being' has the benefit of creating a youthful form and demeanor. I'm convinced that the Chinese concept of the Philosophers' Stone is at work here - longevity enables a greater lifetime for the acquisition of Wisdom and its corollary - Eternal Life.

Yes I believe in miracles. Some powerful early synchronicities opened my eyes to the miraculous. The Greater Mysteries, as manifest in my life, i.e., very specific results for very specific petitionary prayers is not something I would air publically. They are Sacred, and to be imparted in a face-to-face or verbal exchange. Peace.

The redwood forests are worth every ray of light shining through the sparkling floura-dustys, free-floating in the fresh air in the awesome hills of CA. :sun: I live in Mississippi not too far from New Orleans (btw, the French Quarter is something to see) .

And I know the youthfulness of being in the field. Being in God. It has to do with an individual's biochemistry and interacting within the field. How we interact with God. Seeing the full spectrum of light in life as it were. And chronology makes no sense to me whatsoever - seeing clocks for what they are, not what they represent. Sometimes I will only be kidding and say, "five minutes ago it was four hours later" :laugh: in reference to the psychological event known as time.

In the middle of this week I'll have completed what must be done locally - in order to leap forward in life. Ya know... Prayers Answered & Spirituality.:)
