good question.

what is "philosophical evidence?"

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

Evidence is like gathered information..

Interpretation is the story that the information 'tells' to the gatherer.

When you say "using philosophy," does that mean using logic and arguement to arrive at conclusions from premises? Or is that utilizing theoretical philosophy?

Philosophical evidence are facts that are uncovered by using philosophy.

For example:

God exists. Time is a function of matter. Man is a spiritual being. Murder is a bad thing. The universe consists of concepts.

In my line of work, I wouldn't call the examples you listed as evidence. Those would be "conclusory statement". To prove to me that your conclusory statement is true, you would have to show me the evidence upon which you relied.

God exists: What evidence do you have that God exists, that causes you to make this conclusory statement?

Time is a function of matter: What evidence causes you to draw this conclusion?

Etc.

If someone said to me, "That man killed that woman!", that statement might very well be true, but he's going to have to show me how he came to that conclusion before I'll believe it.

The legal system is flawed. If you haven't already, watch "Twelve Angry Men" to get an idea about evidence in the courtroom.

Ahh!  But I'm not talking about our "legal system".  I'm talking about conclusory statements and evidence.  :laugh:opey grin:

peleg: what evidence is there for me to believe you have a headache?

Well, the pressure inside one's head would likely be different from normal (read: when there is no headache). So, you could surgically insert a "bolt" (the medical term for it) and connect it up to a pressure gauge (I've seen this done). From there, just look at the digital readout.

Or you could compare normal vs. headache PET scans, CAT scans, MRIs, etc...

Of course, this is all rather expensive and time-consuming.
