nice, we need the rain whether f warm or cold. I wish for a 10 degree temp drop so that we will get some decent snow

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

I seriously doubt they will have dried and rotted by then. usually takes a week or so to reach full maturity, then you have a few days grace before they go to the bugs.

Finally some rain! I'm going to look around at a few spots later tonight and see if anything is coming up yet.

Good luck and may the games begin

Went out today in SF and in Burlingame (where I had to be for a meeting)

Not too much happening in my SF stomping grounds. Only the red guys were popping:

I saw a ton of this webby stuff. Any idea of what it is?

Down to Burlingame, mushrooms popping up everywhere, unfortunetly, nothing active:

I saw these guys from across the road and I thought I hit the motherlode. Unfortunetly not. Still, it was the largest collection of mushrooms in one place I had ever seen. There were thousands of these guys climing all over each other (this is just about a small portion)...

This one was taking a bath:

So, no cyans yet, but still had a fun afternoon out there.

i'm seeing more hypholomas aswell, but i'm now starting to see tubarias where before friscosa and C. philaris where dominant.

the gyms seem to be going crazy [more on that later].

yeah, this is all a little weird right now..It seems this long dry spell messed things up pretty good...Time will tell tho for this year.

btw, just so you know, I've seen it before where some species will inhabit the exact same spot at different times of the year, down to the square inch..One of the most vigorous cyan spots I know of usually starts out as oysters for the first 2 months, then changes to cyans late in the season..

weird as hell, and I have no idea why...I suspect there's a real biology paper to be made out of that someday

it almost seems like it's symbiotic, that the two species made some sort of chemical agreement years ago..Ok you get the first two months, I get the last two

Interesting observation. It doesn't really make sense to me, but i believe you if you say you saw it. I will definitely keep my eyes open for thees types of growth habits in the future.

yeah, you're right, it doesn't make any sense to me either and I didn't think it was possible. It's like either the two species inhabit the same space, or they move around in the period of a couple months..they don't usually fruit at the same time though

the again it's not really unusual to have two species growing very close and overlapping in some places.I've got photos of red hypholomas and cyans growing right next to each other

No cyans or friscosas popping up at any of my spots in the city. A scattering of hypholomas here and there...

Anybody have better luck?

Lots of shrooms - any actives? [Re: tahoe]
    #6557795 -

All of these were found growing on or in very close vicinity of huge tanbark fields recently dumped in the East Bay hills.

Please inform as to whether active, edible, or deadly.

1. Growing on a tanbark/mud mix next to a trail. Light brown caps, yellow/orange stems. 1 to 2 inches tall.

2B. Same type as above.

3. Brown, hooded caps, growing together, bit dryer spot.

4. Brown/white/grey hoods. 4-7 inches tall. Look deadly.

5. Large white/yellow. Look like edibles?

6. Looks like 2 different kinds here- one dark brown, wavy caps on the right, other light brown on the left

7. Dark brown, growing in very wet area

8. Lone yellow guy

9. Yellow bunch
