Today was perhaps the best day of my life. I found my first psilocybe in ggp a good hand full too, about 15 good sized ones and about 10 er 12 medium sized

Wait till you find this many in GGP, I feel cheated if i dont leave the park with at least as much as this.

Just wait till you find you first patch where you can sit and pick for 45 minutes.

I went on out on a little hunt this afternoon. Here's the results:

A lonely cyan in the grass. This was the first time I'd ever found one outside of a woodchip pile (although only a few inches outside)

The rest of his family, most had seen better days...

A look at the ever-fruiting Friscosa patch

Three's Company (these things were hefty)

A shot of a cyan and a friscosa together

Not as much rain as we were probably all hoping for today :<

probably; depending on how worthwhile the prospect of finding psilocybes in a beautiful bay city is. they're still in full swing.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

hey urbanism, yeah that's about the same condition as I've been seeing them

It's kinda hard to explain, but when they get black like that and after this latest rain, they're no good anymore.

but they can still get fairly dark, like BEFORE this last rain, and some of it might still be OK, but you have to dry it out to kill the bacteria.

But from that first photo, if that was taken today after the latest rain, forget it...those are dying and it's just more bacteria from here on out...they'll get smelly too

the photos I posted 2 days ago are already approaching the limit of being any good..Most of those would have looked even blacker today, like your first photo.

that's why sometimes you gotta get to your patch just BEFORE a rain sometimes.....kind of ironic

This latest rain is barely cutting it for more pins..We're under normal allright

ya never know, we could start getting dumped on soon

All those shots were from today

I didn't pick any of those black ones... and I only picked the freshest of the friscosa batch, mostly just the ones that look like my "threes company" pic. I have way too many good mushrooms to go injesting questionably rotten ones!

I get the feeling that this one day of rain a week thing is enough to wake up the mushrooms, and as soon as they start really drying out, it rains again which turns them darker than Charlie Murphy...

i went hunting today with absolutely 0 finds. got a late start at about 3:30 so only had a good hour and a half of light. also i was searching a completely unforaged area in sf.earlier in the day while not looking, i did find a couple decent friscosas in a "project" area, maybe i'll post pics, probably not though bc they arent very attractive 6 hrs after picking. all in all i would say today was a huge success.
