So I live in Indiana, and have been finding mushrooms after the snow melts, like oysters. I took a few pounds off fallen logs, and there was more than I could carry. I didn't expect to find live mushrooms in January! They were so tasty, I made them with wild rice, and I used a beef broth, and some special seasonings. Mega tasty.
Is there anyone experienced in winter mushroom hunting? I've been spring hunting, summer hunting, fall hunting, and have learned a lot.
I get to travel around the South, too, and find lot's of fall musrooms. Are there any Winter fruitings down there?
Yeah, I found a lot of interesting fungi today.
One, not identified yet, looked the color and texture of a stinkhorn, but it was three "horns" that grew up and connected at the top. Nasty and stuff, but still cool to look at
I'm in sc.
