Ok tahoe, up again....

you see the two round balls in the background? in the upper right corner?

that's the second photo I posted on that thread one year ago...Tahoe spent 3 days speculating on whether those were oil tanks or sewage tanks...they are sewage tanks

it was THIS photo that enabled tahoe to track the location on Google Earth, with the city of Richmond, California as the base area

hint, this spot use to be just south of the Richmond/San Rafael bridge

It's NO LONGER THERE

this was one year ago, it was removed one year ago, it hasn't been there in a long time now. I discoverd it, I removed it to another location, so what's the problem?

the problem is, that I posted this here?...uh huh

of nothing else, it should prove to the parasites that we forgot NOTHING....every little bit we scrounged off our asses, we remember

every single little patch, we remember

good for you tahoe, you remember too, even tho it wasn't your discovery

I thought you would remember, along with some other folks, which is why I removed it...You don't mind that I removed it, do you?...after all, I discovered it, right?

don't you worry, it's in a safe place now, and the mycelium is quite happy

ya see?....I wasn't so stupid after all

but you can keep spending piles of gas money to keep checking the same spot for years to come, just like so many other have

still clueless, after all this time....one of these days you'll figure it out...go ahead, pile it on...make a fucking crowd of it...make a 1000 people waste gas to get to this spot...maybe then you'll see...or maybe not...hehe

crowd em, in, make a party of it

ya see what I mean? 1 year later, they're still going in circles over the same stupid spots, even if they don't exist anyomore

just crazy

hey, just so know, in the off chance that you'll bring 1000 people to this very same spot

notice how thin the chips really are, barely 1/8 of an inch above the dirt..actually, you can't see that until you stick your finger down there, and that's something you don't know, tahoe

you have no idea, tahoe, what exactly is behind this photo, because you have never been there when this was created..You not only do not know what this is, you can't even say when or where they'll come up again

you tahoe, have merely followed other people in their quest for the mushroom, and the sooner people know that, the better

they had to be removed anyway, just to be put in a better place with a thicker and fresher chip spot

In fact, those photos from last year were likely the last gasp of this species...they were starving beyond that, not much food left...they had to be moved in any case

you, tahoe, helped speed that process up.....so for that I thank thee...hehe

U dug up EVERY piece of mycelium....stupid move! U didn't plant them, u didn't cast the spores there first?? did ya? nope!

Good to hear! But you know you could have took half the wood chips and made a new patch...or if you knew what you were doing you'd just need one piece!

ya see?....I wasn't so stupid after all

nope just protective i guess.....but you could have gone about it so much better.

Good luck

no no, that spot was dying out anyway...the chips were so thin there it was probably the last time it would fruit like that. there was no plae left for it to grow and it had already eaten most of the chips

I made three new spots from it, all of them in much thicker woodchips and larger areas where it has plenty of room to expand. and expanding it is.

On top of that, I made at least ten carboards from it and planted those all around the bay as well

this is a recent photo of one of the new spots >
it hasn't fruited yet, but the mycelium is doing just fine and it's getting even bigger now. It has the potential to get 100 times bigger now

it's an improvement from where it originally was. it didn't have much food left and now it has plenty

Guys... chill out. :p

But thanks for the compliment auweia. If you'll notice I did find a patch of cyans on New Year's Eve about a page or two back. I tripped on them the next day and they were... beyond words.  :royalrainbow:

I agree with Auweia... even though I am a newb, I went out day after day at the start of the season and finally found a few patches that absolutely knowone knows about. I intentionally didn't hunt in GGP just because I knew there were other spots around town that would be much-less traveled. Finding your own patches is like 75% of the fun in mushroom hunting. There will always be people that go for the easy way out...

By the way, did anyone see this article in the SF Weekly last week?:

Trip Fantastic
By ALASTAIR BLAND
Article Published Dec 27, 2006

Mother Nature acknowledges no federal prohibitions on hallucinogenic substances, and, in spite of the law, soils across the city are coming alive with mushrooms of the intoxicating genus Psilocybe.

"They're everywhere," says Dr. Dennis Desjardin, a professor of mycology at San Francisco State University. "It's mostly Psilocybe cyanescens. They come up all over the State campus here — in the parks, in yards, San Jose, in Marin. They grow almost anywhere that people have spread wood chips."

According to Desjardin, Psilocybe cyanescens will grow independently on most available soils, especially those that have been disturbed by gardening activity. As the mushrooms sprout, they draw up wholesome minerals and nutrients, then reconstruct them into the unlawful psychedelic alkaloids that have been sending free spirits on lofty trips for decades.

But the mushrooms haven't always grown wild here.

"The reason they're really starting to show up around the Bay Area is that people have them in cultivation," says Phil Carpenter, co-manager of the Fungus Federation of Santa Cruz. "They grow them and they escape. That's the best guess, because they're not native to here."

Rudy Johnson, a 54-year-old amateur naturalist and mushroom hunter from the Marina District, has enjoyed this influx every season for years, getting high every few days throughout the winter. Johnson has his secret patches throughout the city, and he discourages pesky journalists from blundering into the woods to report on subjects with which they have no business.

"I know the sort that reads the Weekly!" he scoffs. "You're going to get hundreds of yahoos out there. I've seen fools come to the Presidio with shovels and sacks, ruining everything and not even knowing what they're looking for, anyway."

Many Psilocybe hunters, he adds, are unfamiliar with the Death Cap, Amanita phalloides, an abundant mushroom that can add some nice character and flavor to pasta sauces and cream soups but will begin to dissolve your liver within 24 hours. Johnson encourages interested parties to pick mind-altering fungi with care and respect — and in moderation — and to cultivate the spores at home. He says the mushrooms often take well to backyards fertilized with mulched woodchips of fir and alder.

Dr. Desjardin, meanwhile, suggests caution.

"It's illegal to pick mushrooms in the first place in a lot of the parks, and it's important to know that if they catch you out there with these Psilocybe mushrooms, they could throw you in jail."

Possession, production, distribution, or purchase of these little cappers is a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Schedule 1 misdemeanor, just like pot. If you should discover a patch of wild Psilocybe mushrooms, we advise that you carefully record the location and report immediately to editor@sfweekly.com. We know the sort.

hahaha...yeah i bet the editor would like some reports

that was the SF weekly?...I've got a copy, but haven't read it yet

I wonder if that editor has ever seen this thread

hey by the way, amanita phaloides is not what psilocybe hunters should be worried about. they look nothing like cyans, Amanita phaloides is something the immigrant asian population has a big problem with because they're looking for edibles of a kind that grows in SE Asia that looks very much like phaloides

every year SF publishes warnings in multiple languages, chinese, tagalog, etc

psilocybe hunters should be worried more about galernia, tuberia, and conocybes, which look alot closer...little brown mushrooms, not big white ones

i went out day after day aswell. isnt it funny how when you first start hunting, every mushroom you find seems to yell out "possibly psilocybe" and then you pick them hoping they are. i did that a few times, and probably the biggest i.d. mistake i ever made was collecting a huge patch of toxic galerinas. i even wanted to test them bc i was so eager and i actually believed they were cyanescens. my smarts held back the implulse to eat them. Thinking back, it seems ridiculous and dangerous to pick without knowlege. anyways i kept going out until one day i came upon about 6 pins of those bay area trademarks by unbelievable circumstances. around that same area i have found numerous patches but unfortunately it is already known and people raid those spots on the regular. they dont even let them grow. if i want mushrooms from that patch, i have to pick them at their baby stage otherwise they'll disapear the next day. back to the subject, tahoe took me out when i was beginning and showed me how to find them on my own. No it wasnt someones patch, it was a big grass field with a few hard to spot and random cyanecsens. When it comes to mushroom hunting there are no real easy ways out. you can follow ppl to their patches and continually raid them knowing someone already knows the spot and eventually pick the patch clean, doesnt take long at all. You can also go out and spend time hunting and gathering which is a definate reflection of ones skills and knowlage of mushrooms. If you know what to look for, you'll find them. if you dont, you wont.

it sucks that someone raided your patch of rare mushrooms(the ones that look like azures), but honestly when i first saw that picture, i explicitly remember seeing the structures and being like "huh, seems like it would be easy to find if you know the bay area." i did in fact know the region, which makes it probable other people do too. In that situation, where there is photographic evidence of a specific location up for anyone to view, theres gotta be some risk, esp on the internet. if your patch is on nonstop rapage status, the option does exist to dig up and plant somewhere else if you know what your doing. thats exactly what you did.

oh yeah, whats with that article. its almost as if they want everyone to go look for mushrooms. great fucking idea.

they both had 2 grams about. my freind came up to me who was this kids brother actualy and sayed that "she ws crying uncontrolably, and he couldent get up from is seat. both of them were throwing up as well. mostly due to there drinking earlier in the night. i just went in there and talkd to her for like 2 hours. it was actualy went very well i thought. iv helped so many people through so many bad trips and this was by far the easiest. i could realate to everything she was saying. she just found herself in a river moving far t fast to stand s she held on. she was just clining t her ego , shes a very nice girl she always trys to be very calm and compose and articulate. shes an actor and whatnot. once i just let her know that everything was going to be fine and she diddnt need to worry.after an hour or so we went and sat by the fire plase and listened to blue grass. and it was a very plesent new years all around. :triping:
