Oh yeah I forgot to add that on my last trip to SF.
I found many many patches of mycellium.
I was kickin myself that I didnt check those spots the first time I went up.
I found i think 6 spots of myc.
They covered large areas, the largest maybe 4 sqft... I looked like spider webs coverin the chips on the surface.
I picked up a woodchip n it had little strands of myc all over it.
Is there a way to tell what type of myc it was?

Once you learn the smell of psilocybes and the texture of wood lovers then you can tell. It not a 100% but its close. You will also see bluing at the fringes.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Is the sesason over for sure? Or do you guys think we will have patches of mushrooms popping up sometime soon? This sucks, it was my first season hunting, I found a huge patch, like at least 20 square feet, and somehow the season gets cut short right when I start up. :frown:

word, fool, word.

It's sad to see the season coming to an end.

I only had one hunt this season, however, it was successful so that's all that matters.

Well the north bay has received an intermittent spattering of raindrops throughout the day... maybe there's still hope for some more fruiting this season. As only a 2nd year picker, I've put dozens of hours in so far this season. I've encountered scores of inactives, but only one real 'shroom to speak of...

How far is the season known to extend to? With rain, is it possible to go on through late February? Also, what temperatue do the mushrooms tend to stop growing at?

Having trouble uploading pics. They're not too big or anything. Starts uploading, the progress bar starts, then stops at about 20%...Any ideas?

ugly shrooms [Re: canid]
    #6504170 -

Newbie here-

Doubt these are anything, just wanted to make sure ...

Found them on a golf course in the East Bay, just off the grass fairway near some woodchips.
As you can see they are blackened probably from recent freezing. Brownish color otherwise.
Pretty large size, caps at least 3 inches, stems 8 to 9 inches.

Id?

do not post your id requests in this thread, start a seperate one.

aside from that, when you upload a picture and the upload finishes, there is a text field in the popup which has the code to display that image with a thumbnail link. simply selecting anywhere in that text field will select that code snippet, at which point you will want to right click the selected text and select cut or copy from the drop down menu that appears. when you return to your post, paste that code snippet into the post body where you want the image to appear.

btw: you do not yet have a gallery. to make one, you have to go into your pics section, set any pic you want to share as puiblic and assign it to your desired gallery.
