you mean here in the bay area in cali? assuming it dosen't get too cold this winter, it could run well into spring here. we've only had one or two light frosts in most of the bay and that was over a week ago i believe.

we would use some more rain at this point, but most of my spots which have started already have good cover and are still truckin' right along at an easy pace.

i'm going to be getting out to one of them on my way to the bank this morning.

Magic Shrooms in Tilden [Re: tahoe]
    #6416576 -

Howdy all-

New at the mushroom hunting thing.
I was up in Tilden Park (Berkeley) today, saw a few kinds of wild shrooms- mostly small and brown. One large red-capped. I've been researching online but there are so many varieties.

So are there magic shrooms in Tilden or surrounding areas? I'd like to learn how to identify them. Anyone going hunting in the next couple days?

Thanks, Buddha

im new to mushroom hunting. can anyone come to my house, educate me on every variety and aspect of poisonous, toxic, edible, and psychoactive mushroom please? also if its not too much trouble, take me to all the locations and patches you have spent hours searching for. I would do the research for myself and learn what looks poisonous and what is friendly ....but ya know, why research when you can just ask and have complete faith in strangers you dont know?
mushrooms is a safe enough hobby right?
not a joke, you can kill yourself. figure out whats what first and dont eat shit. also decide if your willing to pour hours of time into finding what your looking for. hours, and i guarentee it.

Hey Burtonrebel, all kidding aside there, I seriously have met people who think like that...take me to your patches so I can take them over, call them my patches, then get annoyed when you still insist on picking in your own patch

I've met people who haven't figured out now for more than 15 years that there's only one way to do it. You learn it, and you go out and find your own patches

Some people just don't get it....in more ways than one :P

its a task enough to find a patch, even knowing exactly what to look for. my main pet peave is usually when im in ggp and other people watch and stalk me hoping to find something

Yeah, yeah, that happens all the time in GGP...I've seen it many times before.

I used to go around and pick a bunch of red hypholomas or similar look alikes tuberias and be really obvious about it..It kept the stalkers busy for hours..I'd circle around and they'd be in the same place I'd just been in a few minutes before, and they'd be in there busy as hell....checking out the red hyphlomas...scratching their heads...wtf?...lol

kinda silly, but it works

what exactly are you talking about here tahoe? I was talking about people in GGP.. I never said you raped my patch, but you did tell me you used the background images in my photos to track down one of my spots on Google Earth..Now that you brought it out in the open

You also said it took you an hour to pinpoint it, and you were really proud of that...You still proud of it?

In fact, tahoe, there was somebody else here who I never met who was observant enough to question your claims, as in, 'wasn't that the patch auweia discovered?'...So I'm not the one who said anything publicly until you brought it up

Pay attention boys and girls...see this image?

go back and find the original Greetings from Richmond and you'll find it again...See that bridge in the background?..Guess who's speculating on where that bridge is...by the way, Richmond, CA is the first time anyone ever mentioned that city here. you can see before/after

Don't worry, that spot is no longer there. I dug every bit of the mycelium up with my bare fucking hands and backpacked it out on my bike soon after that.

now, see how that DOESN'T work? So now that this spot is no longer there, it shouldn't be a problem to anybody, should it?..since i discovered it. and had I not posted anything, nobody would ever be the worse off

so no my question is, why am I posting again?...I gotta be reminded

what particularly galls me is the view some people have that I'm merely an annoyance that stands between them and their future patches

doesn't matter how long I've been busting my ass for it. Now you see? There's mushroom parasites like the lobster, and then there's the human kind too

I can't stop people like that, because they will always exist, but I can sure minimize the damage. And they will never get my respect. You wanna know who gets my respect?

Goodolgoogy for example > http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6403247#Post6403247

This guys a newb, and he's going out there and looking..he's paying the price, man, he's down there in the dirt and he's GONNA find his own spot one day, and it will be all his own to treasure for years to come.

That's exactly they way I did it 20+ years ago

the fact is, when people try to find out where somebody else spot is, it never works anyway when more than one person knows about it..they don't grow fast enough for that. I've literally seen people go over certain spots in SF each fucking hour...I sat there one day just to find out in the bushes, and different people would come by and comb the spot EACH HOUR!

This is an example, I told somebody a minor spot 20 years ago, and then they told two friends etc. I also said, "go out and find your own spot', but no, none of them ever did

Now, you know nobody will ever find anything in the spot, except maybe a pin once a day...but they did this for ten years! It's insane!

In fact, less than 1/4 mile away I have an even better spot, and if those folks would be looking like normal people do, or you should do, or what Goodolgoogy does, they probably would have found that by now...But no, all these people, over 3 dozen of them, keep going over the same patch, day after day...it's like something out of One Flew Out of the Cuckoos Nest. Or maybe that scene in Midnight Express where they keep going in circles. in fact, isnm't that the very definition of insanity?...doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?

they amount of time involved in this patch is just insane, considering they probably passed 20 other patches just to get there, and if they would have spend that same time just looking on their own, they'd have plenty more by now

People who really know look at that type of behaviour as just crazy...we can't believe our eyes sometimes....It's soooo bad with some folks, we just....sheesh, there's no explanation

One analagy I've always thought is true of the way to hunt mushrooms...You know how much of the animal world hunts for food?...You ever watched ants move around searching for food?. They go back and forth and criss cross, pretty much at random...Most of the animal world does that...deer, bear...they can narrow areas down a bit, but they still gotta bushwhack

but eventually they find food...ya know?

and one moral note...when people tell me that it's my own damn fault for not cutting the images down to know identifiable background that can be traced, is say > they can't help it, they were born that way

well, ok....In that case, no amount of psychedelic mushrooms will help you then

no, bluemeanie..this thread and this entire section is about mushroom hunters...you know, hunting?...Hunting is where you go out and look around for mushrooms, and you take some photos, and you compare and ask questions...It's a comraderie of sorts...or not

some people still do that, you know

I'm not here for you bluemeanie, and I ain't here for tahoe either...I'm here for the newbies who want to find out what this is and go look for their own spots. I'm here to help them in any way I can with the way they grow, the way they look like under different conditions, the different habitats they grow in, etc i will always always always support that. I try to post photos to help with ID and habitat, and I just posted a bunch more too in case you missed it http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6419461#Post6419461

that's what many places look like as of TODAY here in SF (every one of those photos is actives).....People who want information have no complaint over this, but people who want locations might

you want to see me stop posting? Is the reality of it got you too depressed bluemeanie? I'm not depressed at all, in fact, I'm happy as pie because yet again the parasites never got away with it, or very little

'dipwads still don't get it, and it's just amazing to me'

people who hunt on their own, who really hunt, will always get results, and remember this bluemeanie, and remember it good, because it's really really important..

>>>>people who hunt on their own, who find their own spots that nobody else knows about, will likely never encounter ANY problems whatsoever<<<<

ever!...and I mean EVER!...I still have spots 20 years old nobodys touched yet

....I know this because I'm one of them...One of those people who goes out and finds their own spots, no matter how long it takes.

Yup...uh huh....those people exist allright

now, if most people here feel uncomfortable with that, it's no problem for me..I can stop posting very easily, but I won;t be losing out

I post info to a certain point, and that's in direct parallel to Shroomery's own rules....they are there for good reason, you know

For the Shroomery and their rules, you can consider this problem fixed, internally.....it was fixed almost one year ago today

Not even worth mentioning anymore
