 Cappin' in the name of teh Lord!

Ridiculous, I dunno, I'm not into justifying all my actions to a god, only to myself.

By the way, christianity is not the only religion filled with these kinds of paradoxes of humans.

I know a guy here, owner of a huge company, owns literally half of small stores in the entire region, has millions, all done by cheating and stealing, pays his workers on the limit of survival, yet
he is some kind of a hinduist or something, sings hari chrishna with his religious friends every day after work, doesn't eat meat, and warns everyone around him that they will reincarnate into worms if they don't stop eating meat, and he is not kidding around, he is actually serious about this stuff, pays huge amounts of money just to go to India. Amazing.

He justifys his actions by convincing himself that he is working for the entire company and not they for him

But in reality he is the dark side of capitalism

I know. I just pick on the giant that is Christianity.

http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html#Christianity Top of the page.

You see my next target? won't be too dissimilar, just an altered interpretation of events.

I have a strong distrust of religion due to people like you mentioned intentionally misleading people for their own ends. The happenings of it aren't just isolated to one religion either, but are rampant in all of them.

You must admit thought that aside from all the inconsistant mystical stuff, christianity stands for some positive values like love, forgivness, charity etc.

:yesnod: I'm all for the values, I'm not for the methods employed, nor the retention of power used... and I'm absolutely against the intolerance, and its bullshit justification because god said so.

Same applies to most religions, however people need to learn that they don't need a structured organized belief system to achieve happiness, nor to be good. You don't need a reward to be a good person, it in itself is a reward.... and, its a lot more challenging then being an asshole... at least can convince people to do it as a challenge .

I thik you are overestimating people in general.
A lot of people are stupid, and I mean really stupid, they can't even figure out trigonometry, so philosophical thinking is out of their reach, all they know is either listen to their instincts or follow rules.

"Thinking for yourselfs" can be as much as damaging as it can be a benefit. It is damaging to those who just don't know how to think

Since the dawn of time, there have always been those who think and make morality, and those who follow it.
There is no way that our society can be turned into thinkers, because that would be a chaos, imagine your avarage George thinking for himself and trying to figure out what is "right" and at the same time he can't understand the instuctions for the microwave

:yesnod:  great point.

Think objectively, and think for yourself rather then have others do it for you. (It's much harder then it sounds apparently)
