Oh shoot thought I mentioned, been 4.5 days, and I have an insane sporeload(moldy apartment building + pnw) so I know shits on there.

Good writeup, I am personally somewhat partial to MEA even though I've been fucking it up a lot recently lol, im drawn to toxic relationships

I read a thread (the "no pours suck" one) and it seemed like the OP had a lot of contams that weren't showing up due to seemingly his agar being too hard, lowered it to 1.25% or something and found so much trouble with contam I think they denounced SABs and quit the hobby lmao, rough stuff. But from that thread I've been inspired to 1. Lower my agar concentration and see if im secretly harboring nasties and 2. Create a time-lapse of particulates in an SAB

Also my sig is TW and Hillbilly pumpkin

Backlight them, do you still see nothing?
You have a whole range of nutrient % in there, something should find one of them hospitable.

I mean contam will even show up on water agar eventually so something's up here if nothing grows by tomorrow/after tomorrow.

Today:

The flecks are sediment, no signs of anything at all.

I've ordered maltoferm 1001, going to do another little LME brand shootout to see if I can conquer hot-break but now I'm also definitely lowering the agar concentration, this is weird to me.

Tomorrow, open the .1%, lick your finger and touch the center. This is a very unrealistic load but whatever, do it anyway just to see.

Speaking of hot break, I just cooked a 2% nutes bottle in my old PC (I think 12psi?) for 1h. Very little boogers and very pale boogers compared to previously. I have two bottles now in the hot water bath coming down to pouring temp, will take some pics tomorrow of the plates.

I have a bunch of pics incoming now for some funky funky scalloping from last weeks transfers, stand by.

Ah shit this convo was from the Ask quick questions thread, but whatever I'll pull it over here since it's more suited.

Not all of your pictured plates are scalloped. The mycelium is just faster in some places, this is where you select from the strongest/fastest growth to produce symmetrical growth downstream.

Stipe, remember this conversation about scalloping we had? You told me to avoid these:

Can I join the scalloping club now? Look at this shit: :mad2: (top, fully colonized plates on each row are mother plates, offspring underneath)

The "best" plates reverted to dogshit tomentose and the rest are like pizzas that a drunk beaver had fun with.

These are the only somewhat organized

Unfortunately this organized one has a tomentose sector splitting it in half, and some weird fuzzy balls on it. Probably nothing, but still annoying. I should have removed the condensation, but I think you can still see what I'm talking about.

Fuck man, I was hoping to get a bit better plates than this. More transfers I guess...

No. Rhizo just looks cooler. A lot of PE is tomentose, so is usually RustyWhyte. Other varieties can go either way, depending on genetics and nutrients. The x7x I grow is always rhizo for me.

Main reason I like rhizo is no mold I've gotten looks like rhizo, and a lot of mold looks somewhat like tommy-toes shroom mycelium.

Rhizo is easier to tell from mold.

FYI, mold is fungus, just microscopic fungus.

Here's some rhizo Psilo Cyan that I only grew to this point, not to shrooms. Gave up wanting to grow it after I learned about Woodlover's Paralysis. It's rare but sounds horrific.

New Zealand is doing some pilot program for therapy but using woodlovers. Yikes.

I think the Oregon rules for therapeutic shroom licensed growers are good to not allow woodlovers. (Also doesn't allow growing on cow and horse shit, good.) I'm not a fan of rules but if you're going to have rules for stuff to give people with PTSD and depression, probably good to avoid making them unable to move, thinking they're dying and / or sick with e. coli.

Someone from NZ replied about that though,
"The logic behind this is that psilocybin mushrooms are an A class drug in NZ and there are no exceptions for clinical trials in place. This mushroom is growing in the area so they are choosing it as it is the best shot they have to claim it as indigenous property. This might be a possibility to circumvent restrictions and to get into helping people and families."

Just wait until one day you get to the point where you think to yourself 'huh, I think growing Pans would be fun '

But only after i mastered basics like PF tek, printing and making syringes.

Will take a while.

If you look at that under a microscope on low power, like 40x, or even a strong magnifying glass, organised tomentose is basically rhizo with really small rhizos.

This is a T0 plate, started with cloned tissue from a melmac fruit.

This plate is 12 days old now. I’m confused about the outer translucent ring. It’s all very symmetrical and orderly but there’s two distinct types of growth: the inner mycelial-looking band and the outer translucent ring.

What do I do with that plates like this? I also see it on my agar to agar transfers, not just clone plates: an outwardly advancing, symmetrical ring of translucent growth. It doesn't look obviously bacterial or like mold.

Agar is 10g Telephone agar: 10g LME : 500ml H20

That AMZ on the bottom pic looks alright or it's also just organized mold? I don't know maybe it's some German mold.

I think all of that shit is just trash except the AMZ and the rhizo obviously.
