I have used cling wrap and parafilm for Petris. Have also used just micropore tape (which did NOT keep out contam).

The thing I'm using now that's cheaper than parafilm and better than cling wrap is that grafting tape for plants.

It's usually green, some is clear. Make sure you get it wide enough (inch or two inch, don't get half inch), but eBay has it,

I loved grafting tape for ease of use, but I found that it eventually dried out and cracked when I kept plates for a very long time hoping for pins. So I am back where I started with cling wrap. That shit lasts forever. Of course, not everyone lives in my dry desert climate, so ymmv.
