Can we rename x7x+ variety as Bukkake Sunrise? * 2

I still wish I'd called x7x+ Bukkake Sunrise so I wouldn't need to correct people frequently on here.

(Or should it be Bukkake Surprise?)

It's creating confusion in general. A lot of people call it x7x by mistake. x7x+ is a very different variety from that parent, x7x.

I named it as I did to honor x7x_x7x, the guy who had the pink spore mutation and sent out the original x7x spore prints in 2008. But that one doesn't drop buckets of spores all over your face like x7x+

And he's still honored because people know the history of it, and I've typed it up. And when we change it, I'll add it to the history page.

I can't just change it at this point, since it now belongs to the community. Has to be a somewhat mutual agreement.

Perhaps x7XL? It would still relate to the original variety since the name stays the same except a minor modification but it's much easier to separate from x7x + it suits the size of these fruits.

Still going to have the same problem.

I'm not stuck on Bukkake Sunrise. It might even just be "a Modest Proposal" to point out the problem people have with remembering the changed name.

But I really wish I'd called it something other than any variation on x7x.  I was just trying to do the right thing.

Maybe I should have an open call for new names.

Unfortunately, no matter how good, I think a new name just might not "take."

Some people are too thick / distracted to remember the right one, and too stuck in their ways to go with a new name.

Nektar,

First off, you developed this variety. You did the work, took my spores and found the strong sporey ones, stabilized the thing, documented its history, and gave it to the community. So as far as I'm concerned, you've earned the right to call it whatever the hell makes you smile. You have my blessing either way.

I completely understand changing the name from x7x+. People calling it x7x every five minutes proves that the "+" has reached the end of its useful life.

And yeah, Bukkake Sunrise is hilarious. The spores-all-over-your-face logic is scientifically airtight by Shroomery standards. 😂 

Or maybe use some other name. Or maybe people just aren't smart enough to do it right, and every time they do it wrong we can just laugh at them.

That's just my two spores. This strain is your creation, take it wherever you want.

Everyone who grows x7x+ is going to get a spore facial no matter what it's called.

As much as I prefer the new name idea, it's not an easy task. Look at how many people still call ochras nats.

Maybe not change it.

Maybe to with x7x_x7x's suggestion above, just laugh at people who get it wrong.

It's not that fucking hard to get it right.

People didn't call PE6 "PE", they called it PE6.

It's weird too, because a lot of people calling x7x+ "x7x" are new members here who joined after x7x+ was released, so they never even saw x7x mentioned.

If you don’t know the history, one would not know that being lazy and dropping the plus-sign changes the meaning and context. And if you knew all of it, and still don’t put it, you’re lazy and probably not about to go out of your way to correct yourself.

I still vote YAY for bukakke sunrise.

Honestly, I’d rename it “SporeRain Sunrise.”

It keeps the rhythm and weirdness of “Bukkake Sunrise,” but it’s actually mushroom-related and searchable. The current name basically sends every search engine straight into porn results, which makes the strain ridiculously hard to find or document.

“SporeRain Sunrise” still sounds distinctive, but now Google has at least a fighting chance of understanding that we’re talking about mushrooms.

Either way of like to thank both of you for this amazing Cube variety. It definitely delivers some nice yields and yeah "bukkake" may be one of the best descriptions of these with all the jizz it sends all over your room:muppet:

480g from a 14 liter tote harvested today





I'll be calling it whatever you want me to call it tbh but I agree that a name change may be hard to achieve throughout the entire community.

Thank you, but the more I think about it, the more I think changing the name is a losing battle, based on how people still sometimes call still call ochras "nats", as PhenoDreamers said above.
