Just looked into spray malt, it appears to be standard DME.

you don't want steam inside the vessel. heat gets inside the bottle via convection

If air is trapped in there, it does not reach sterilization temperature. You don't need steam to get into the vessel, steam gets created by the liquid in the vessel and displaces the air.

Thanks Altford and Psycho for the correction, still learning

Nah people have been a little argumentative around these parts lately. It’ll pass. Always does. I was being a little cheeky.

I swear I’m not trying to stir shit, but consider clingewrap as an option if you don’t find your parafilm experience enjoyable.

I have used cling wrap and parafilm for Petris. Have also used just micropore tape (which did NOT keep out contam).

The thing I'm using now that's cheaper than parafilm and better than cling wrap is that grafting tape for plants.

It's usually green, some is clear. Make sure you get it wide enough (inch or two inch, don't get half inch), but eBay has it,
https://www.ebay.com/itm/313180374585

and Amazon has it. It's perfect for this. I seal the end of it with a little microspore tape.

It's cheap but you can also get it almost free if you order from China and don't mind waiting a few months.

Don't worry about people being argumentative. You're golden here.

Fun Fact for the Day:
"Chamo" is Spanish for "Adolescent."

That is the second time you have mistranslated Spanish. You are confidently incorrect about a lot

For anyone wondering the usage is closer to β€œdude”
