The terminology is NOT new. Most of what Stipe and others were talking about is true for other fungi, not just cubes. Jokey b.s. phrases like "Plin" are new, but that's not the science.

Some of what Stipe and others were saying on here today, the people who know what they were talking about, is basic biology that's between 40 and 100 years old. Some is older. If you studied mycology, or even studied advanced biology, in college in the 1970s, or even the 1950s, you'd have learned many of those terms and concepts.

A lot of the grow techniques here were borrowed from edible and gourmet mushroom growers. Most of the agar tek is standard agar tek done in labs unrelated to shrooms for a very long time.

As for the phrase "strain", it's misused ALL THE TIME. A lot of spore vendors call a variety a "strain" because that's what noobs are Googling when they want to buy spores, and if the vendor doesn't propagate the error, they lose a sale. Even some otherwise legit vendors do that. 

But anyone who uses the phrase "strain" wrong because they think it's right, and doubles down on it, doesn't understand basic fungus biology. And anyone who claims to have a fridge full of culture plates but won't post a pic is probably a liar.

Anyone misusing "strain" but demanding they're right, and demanding that they can do mono isolates with a scalpel, is like a kid going into a mechanic's garage and calling a carburetor a fuel filter, and insisting they're right. The mechanics aren't going to listen to that person on how to tune up a car, nor should the mechanics listen. 

You can't paint like Dali until you can paint normal representative art with correct proportions.

As for echo chambers, and saying people are in a religious cult if they push for correct terminology here, that's false.

You need to post photos of your grows here before you go talking about the new way you're changing the science, or telling people they're doing it wrong. NO ONE will listen to you if you tell people how it is, without posting grow photos, except noobs who are still struggling with contam every grow. Nor should anyone listen.

Every once in a while someone comes here, has no pix, or weak grow pix, and tries to "tell the old heads how it's going to be", but is entirely wrong. Then doubles down on it. It's COMMON here. You haven't been here long enough to see it, or maybe to recognize it.

Seeing this is maddening to people who can actually grow, or can grow and also know the science. It's like a child running into a room of grad students, screaming "YOU'RE ALL WRONG!", then the kid doubling down on demanding that he's right.

It's also extremely disruptive, and gets in the way of helping noobs who want to grow shrooms. Some people who come here are
suicidal and shrooms can sometimes change that. It's important to be able to give clear info to noobs without a huge noise-to-signal ratio.

Especially for people who need to grow shrooms, but even for people who just want to grow shrooms.

So when someone with low impulse control, a huge ego, and a non-existent skill set kicks over a chair here and starts demanding to sit at the big kids' table just because they yell, it's weak.

Some noobs here know how to grow. Some know better than I do. And I'll listen to them, if they have grows that show they can grow.

I have Chimo on Ignore and I'm still having to wade through replies. It fucks up threads for days. Maybe that's the goal.

When this happens, unfortunately mods usually don't moderate and stop it, though they should. When they do, it's usually yelling at a person explaining why it's disruptive, not giving a warning to the person being disruptive.
