In the Name of God?
    #2602869 -

I watched an interview on CNN with the chief advisor for Bush...and she claimes to be a big christian and that her faith plays a big role in her life...that being said...would her advice on the invasion of Iraq be in the name of God?

excuse my ignorance.

That is a big leap.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniencies attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas Jefferson

I'm certain that the invasion of Iraq was in the name of MONEY, not God.

> how can a christian kill?

People, regardless of faith, tend to turn a blinds eye towards their teachings when anger and hatred rule.

Some people, regardless of faith, will twist the teachings of their faith to justify the murdering of others.

I hate to be the one to point out the obvious, but "kill" and "murder" are not synonymous.

It seems to me this thread is rapidly heading in a direction better suited to the Spirituality and Philosophy forum. You'll find it there.

God and money are, and always have been one in the same. Well, maybe not always.

Bush says he consults with God also. He believes he is doing God's work. Just like Osama.

Actually, as I was reading it, I sort of found it Politics forum material.

What it comes down to: When is it "kill", and when is it "murder", and then you have different political perspectives regarding this particular issue, and it disintegrates into who is right and who is wrong.

To throw mine in... war in Iraq? Murder. Murder for the sole intent to have strategic military presence in the Middle East so as to forcefully obtain oil for our own interests when peak oil occurs.

Peace. :mushroom2:
