That's why everyone should have their own, inner 'religion'.

I am an Adamist... my body is my temple, my brain is my direct connection to God, my drugs are my sacraments, my shit and piss are my reflections and shedded skin...

Spirituality may still be dogmatic but it's generally a fuck of a lot less dogmatic than religion.

from a Nietzchean perspective, Christ is a good example of the pointlessness of action. His life proves that even the most altruistic action can be corrupted and therefore defeat its origional purpose.

Christ came to earth and told people to do two things:
a) Love God
b) Be nice to eachother

And for this, they nailed him to a tree. Then, 2 centuries later, they rewrote everything he ever said and used it as justification for war, slavery, social manipulation, and empire.

I guess one person can make a difference

Er... Christ was NOT the only Christian,he was/is THE CHRIST.Mary Magdalene was probably his only true desciple. The word cristian is corrupted and fouled by centuries of egoistic revision.I am a follower of Rabbi Yeshua Ben Joseph and a believer in the spiritual value of many great men.
christians are dogmatics and only narrowly interpret the words of THE CHRIST when they can be skewed to their agenda/dogma.

"Know ye not I come to set you free?"

that's the quote you rarely hear from a 'christian" or in a church unless there is a codicile attached to reserve some control and power to the church.

Yeeah we umm... pretty much slaugtered as violently as possible anyone that was ever of any real importance in our history. None of them ever seem to die of old age.... hmmmm... makes you think uh......

And Enter. I belive he can make that assumtion by simply looking up the general defenition of Christianity. If each Christian belives something diffrent, are they really all Christians?

Quote:

You can't lump all Christians into one bundle and burn 'em, whiterasta. That's a generalization based out of fear and bitterness, perhaps even hatred for the effects of Christianity in your personal life.

Each Christian is an individual.

My point is about the mantle you choose. Saying "I am a christian" has so many interpretations as to be meaningless. Are you a christian who prompted the crusades? are you a christian who sodomizes the alter boys? Are you a christian who believes in the ultimate divinity of the white man?
Now I am not accusing you of any of these things just setting up my point, which is to be careful which lables you choose, as my interpretation of "christianity" is that it is a convienient lable under which many wrongs are commited.Christianity usually requires a preist, pastor,or reverend to interface and interpret "God's will"
and who knows what the agenda of a man is? I follow the words attributed to Rabbi Yeshua Ben Joseph and recieve guidance from the words of many other great spiritual men.I have NO predjudice against those who don the "lable" christian, I just believe that many who do, do not accept the negative baggage which also follows the "lable"
And trust me Enter I have no desire to harm or "burn" anyone regardless of their spiritual claims.I have just stated my opinions on the spirituality of christianity.Too many people trying on the same ill fitting hat,Are they ALL christians? If I believe Christ approved of pedophilia am I "christian"? If I believe he wants a 10% cut of my material wealth from the top, am I a christian?(Remember the money changers?)If I lead my nation to a war based upon my lies am I christian? I can tell you I have met "christians" who held all of these beliefs.
So now Enter I ask you are ALL of these various groups using the "lable" christian?
Study the first followers of Yeshua and see if the path may have strayed too far to keep using His name to promote a purely Earthly agenda.I am not a "christian" as that would force me to choose one of too many definitions for that "lable" I follow Yeshua, I folow HIS words, Not Pauls or any other man,I base my conduct upon the words directly attributed to the Rabbi Yeshua ben Joseph. With NO iterpreter as he is quite clear on what he expects of us, and it has little to do with the deeds of "christianity" today.
Again I do not predjudice anyones belief(unless they try to stuff it down my throat)I just point out that "christian" means far too many diferent things to be a meaningful "lable".

It must suck to live your entire life based on the words and teachings of one man, right? I mean, come on, are you aiming to be his clone or something?

Seriously, though. There are so many connections out there that can lead to many great and insightful ideas that can be used within oneself, and only connecting yourself to the teachings of one man really cuts you off from the grandness of being your own self...
Peace.

For even among demoninations there are individuals.

This is one of the greatest things you have ever said, man!

We are all individuals, finding our own truth in ideas we are presented with... everything is an idea, and if we adopt another's idea, it becomes our own idea...

I never stated that Yeshua was my only insight I gave props to many spiritual men whose words shape my opinion. As for being his clone...I am NOT worthy as I am a sinner saved by his grace. All I can do Is try to live my life by a moral code others can respect and rely upon.Yeshua,Bhudda, and many others have helped me achieve what little success I can claim.
And Enter your response was eloquent and beautifuly wrought.I agree with each individual a new belief is born.In fact that is how I send the Jehova's Witnesses away,by simply saying "I have a deep and personal relationship with Christ as I know him"
You and I are not SO different I am just a little stickier about the lables I hang on myself.Without a doubt a persons relationship with his/her creator is deeply personal and individual and In fact does create an idividual "religion".This is in fact exactly what I have done in my life. The nick whiterasta is part and parcel to some of my influences on a spiritual level.

Too Right! My Bad.If this was other than a sunday morning discussion I would be more concerned about a error in haste.
Quote:

Still true if one considers Yeshua more than a mere man though  and I do not "follow" the words of any other.Yeshua's word is my bottom line all others are simply facilitating the execution of the will( as I percieve it) of Yeshua.
I would also state that this is MY interpretation I do not expect or demand anyone else hold my belief over their own or in any regard other than that it is simply MY belief.I encourage everyone to determine what it is they themselves believe and act upon it...too many act on others beliefs and not their own or even bother to formulate a belief system, rather they pick one from the shelf of religion and cloak themselves in it's mantle then give it no further thought.

Christ came to die. He knew it was his job to die for us sinners (everybody). In John 3, while talking to Nicodemus (sp?), Jesus said, "Just as the serpent in the wilderness was lifted up, so must the Son of Man."

We didn't crucify Jesus. Neither did we (or most of us, anyway) drop an atom bomb, free Europe from nazi control, etc, etc. What's past is in the past. Time to let it go and look for the significance of the event.
