If I remember correctly , Maynard is a devout Pagan, and has all kinds of hexagrams/pentagrams/runes throughout his house. There is supposedly a huge rune painted on the floor as you walk in his house.

"To ascend you must die."

wow, i always thought it was "too much said, you must die"

but that works too.  i'm still gonna sing it my way tho

i also thought he said that he pointed his finger at everything but his SWORD.

are those the "official lyrics" or just fan transcripts?  where'd you get em?

You speak the voice of intolerance and ignorance. The world is far more complex than what is contained in the Bible. Open up your third eye.

maynard is not a replacement for religion.. he HAS a religion and he OBVIOUSLY fucking knows that he is a fucking Luciferian antichrist who hates Christians and God. if you don't believe he loves demons check out Tool's "Opiate" CD.. and also check out the illustrations.. demons raping baby cherubs up the ass, etc.. the whole opiate CD is blaspheming Jesus, cursing Christians, expressing hate, and praising Satan. i literally burned all my tool albums because thats what they are, fucking Tools, and i have no use for their shitty band. i don't care that their music sounds oh so fucking good. think david lee roth, ozzy ozbourne, metallica, jimi hendrix etc. they sound good too. their spiritual inspiration is the devil and they will tell you that themselves. at least hendrix was an unwilling medium... fuck tool... and fuck system of a down for the same damn reason. i almost worshipped those fucking bands and they are openly satanic and they are not worth listening to

Hehehe... you got me good there. I almost thought you were serious there for a second. I now know you were being sarcastic, renacting the words of someone that could be described as a lunatic..
You don't even know what you are rallying agansit. Haha.

...Pagans are satanists, buddhists are satanists, taoists are satanists, shintoists are satanists, quabballists are satanists, those who follow the indian religions I can't remember are satanists, agnostics are satanists, atheists are satanists, new agers are satanists, psychics are satanists, people who listen to metal are satanists, playing D&D is worshipping satan, reading harry potter will turn you into a satanist...

Funny how some Christians -- especially the born again -- see satan everywhere.

Ya, he's definatley got his shit figured out, and he's preaching it. And he's reaching a lot of people with it. Pretty noble in my book. Then again I feel the same way about Jesus, if you go back and look at his sayings, he's right on.

So I think to make a decision between looking at the teachings of christ and maynard, you're actually looking at the same thing. OH well.

It's nice when everything fits into your pre-thought up, conviently-making-you-right viewpoint, isn't it? Tell me some more of your prefabricated generalizations, so I can apply them to any subject myself. It saves any thoughtful consideration on my part. Thanks.

My obsession? Who implied that (that is, besides yourself. hehe).
Myself, I don't get upset when anyone critizices anyone. Did I appear to get upset? Read again what he said (which I so conviently quoted). That is quite the generalization.. just as I don't truly know what Maynard is like, neither does he.
I'm sorry if I appear to be obsessed (I don't claim any obsessions). What I am talking about here is the MESSAGE that he has put out, versus the MESSAGE that is in the Bible. I'm sorry, I don't worship anything (I'm not that shallow-minded). I am not proposing a fucking religion (I am not for instituionalized thought).
"He's just a rock singer." Jesus was just a man who walked around preaching a message. I could care less if Jesus sucked cock for money (erroneous question: Would you let the son of God suck your cock for a couple of bucks? hehe). I guess I took things a little tounge-in-cheek when I asked others what MESSAGE they found more truthful, to them.
Myself, I find myself liking Maynard's MESSAGE more (ever notice the similiarity between MESSAGE and MASSAGE?).
I acknowledge that this thread has gotten long, and a lot of my posts were near the top, so I will now QUOTE my first three posts, to clarify my point of view and that I am not changing my words.
Post the First:
Quote:

I just found an interview with Maynard Keenan from Tool, and I like everything that he said and relate to it..
Now, what do all of you think has the better message (to you, which one do you most identify with and find truth in?), TOOL, or The Bible? Please read the interview and listen to what he says, if you are not already familiar with what theire message is. Not to mention that the Bible doesn't have a fucking sweet soundtrack that helps deliver the message....
Peace.

Post the Second:
Quote:

I'm not talking about worshipping them, or anything, I'm just talking about their ideals. Finding truth in them, adopting them, and applying it in our life. We'd be better off than by adopting Christianity's ideals.

There is a lot to the "Maynard Gospel"... artwork, etc.
Gotta go, though, I'll add more when I'm back home in a few hours..
Peace.

and... finally, Post the Third:
Quote:

I'm not proposing Maynard as a replacement for religion (hehe, quite the funny statement, what i just said, if you read it closely, but anyways); he has a man who has the power to get his ideas out there.
What I am wondering, is if all of you would rather life life in accordance to his views and beliefs, or in Christianity's views and beliefs.
This is basically a poll, I'm just wondering what everyone's choice would be, and why (if you had to go one or the other, no in between or etc).
Just curious on your thoughts...
Peace.

I may hold him in higher regard than other people, due to the MESSAGE that he has put out. I think a lot of people here identify with it, and I think there is a reason why.
Please, reread your post again. Anything else?
Peace.

Oh, I agree totally. Just a really good rock band.
However, what about what he is saying? What about what the beliefs of his that he is putting out? What do you think about them (not the band?) That is what I fucking asked in the first place, man. Which one do you find more truth in? I was just curious what everyone thought, that's all. I'm not going hysterical over a band or anything.
OH, and George Bush is just a politician, by the way.
Peace.
