Awesome looking finds everyone!  :super::bigblunt:  Nice to see the season starting up for so many peeps.  Those mulch findings are incredible!  Good looking stuff from the wild patches too.  :awesomenod:

Went out for a good hike today and came across some more clusters here n there on logs.  Some of the spots that were fruiting good last week were ok today, but some new spots had come up with the recent system.  Here's some of what we came across today.

:super: as usual.

I'm so jealous of all the awesome flushes. After probably 10 trips out now over the last few weeks I've collected a total of just under 4 dry grams.

I wasn't asking for ID help. I have just been skunked endlessly and am curious if anyone in my area has had luck finding ovoids. Good Vibes

I'm next to the Ohio river and can confirm they are here. Up here they come out late April. I went today and didn't find anything. I'm going to look at another stream tomorrow.

It's gotta kick some real ass to be able to fish for trout and pick magic mushrooms.

Found a creek downstream from a sawmill with a grove of box elders and sandy, squishy banks full of buried debris. When I got there, I was titillated--I was certain they were there. Alas, after a bit of hunting, nada. But I was a bit crunched for time, so I'll probably go back and check that spot out when I have a bit more.

Any opinion how the cold snap last night will impact flowering today? Totally not worth going out or it will push some to Bloom?

Cold = slower growth and smaller fruits.  They'll still come up, just not as fast as late May.  Sometimes in the fall they'll be frozen in the morn from cold nights.

Even in a cultivated mulch bed I haven't seen one in the fall. I need to be more diligent this year

Be patient !keep looking .they are just starting, nothing big ,depending on area ,but as soon as everyone is getting them, just keep hunting reading and following post of experienced hunters, like koods, tempest and a few others !soon as you see someone near your area just follow and study the habitats they tell you for your area ,your not missing anything, they just ha vent flushed fully yet! I found them ,3 minutes into my first hunt ,off of advice someone from another state gave me ,about my state where to go and find them ,as i entered into the area and looked down ,they found me ,looking up at me ,like little puppies .my first year hunting ,last year ,i was able to harvest 8 oz my first year hunting for them ! Im on the eastcoast ,its harder in our area ,im pretty sure your in a better state
and area than me ,you ll find them! I use google earth alot and look for bends in creeks and rivers ,that how i find my flood plains!

found some things. Most my normal spots are still not producing. Only very specific spots are popping. Relic and I got in just in time on this one. Most of these probably only had a couple days of life  left.  Great day with even greater friends.

I’ve been staring at mulch for a few weeks now, and I’m finally pinning.  It’s been cold here highs in the high fifty’s and lows around 40 a few days over 60.  I’m surprised, thought it would be another two weeks .  I’m in the northern section of the known range.  No boxelder habitat around so I’m stoked there will be some spores flying and stem buts planted this spring.  This bed was started with Susquehanna valley stem buts and some small colonized sticks last May, it fruited in the fall.

These Habitat Shots IMO Will Lead You To Nothing As This Is South Ga And Our Creeksides Tend Not To Be Sandy And In These Pics It Seems More Of The Usual Wetland/Swampy Creeksides Which Usually Carry No Active Fruit Bodies Search Your Area Well As I Live In The Augusta Area and Have Been Navigating Creeks Here This Whole Year In Search Of A South Ga Ovoid Find And Have Found Only One Creek In The General Area That Has Sandy Creek Sides The Rest Of Them Which Is A Ton Of Them Are Swampy Land Or Clay Sides...These Pics Seem To Look Alot Like Spirit Creek...Search Your Areas Local Creeks And Set Out On Some Foraging Journeys Not Only For Actives If The Creek Is Swampy Or Clay Sided Still Learn The Fruit Bodies It Does Contain Try Again another Day Until You Find The Exact Habitat They Like It Took Me Months...I Found One Single Active Fruit Body At The Creek I Found Last Week With Blue Staining But It Has Been Very Dry Once The Rain Drops I Feel Like South Ga Will Also Be Known For Ovoids If Saught Out In The Right Locations...The Creek I Finally Located Has Sandy Sides And Washups And Fits The Habitat To The T But Tooks Months For Me To Find and It Took Driving To And Walking Atleast 20 Local Creeks To Find One With Sandy Sides...Happy Hunting To You All!!

**Edit** Also Make Sure The Creek Has Box Elders In The General Area They Are The Trees That Drop The Cool Helicopters On The Ground The Seeds You Pick Up And Throw And they Spin Like Propellers...You Will Notice As Well If They Are Around There Will Be Young Elders The Leaves On Them Almost Resemble Poison Oak But They Will Be On Branches that Are A Reddish Color Instead Of Vines!!
