This is a few of the ones me and my son found today. We only got to hunt for an hour before the rain got to heavy. We are doing spore prints now to be 100% sure.

Looking good.

I've expanded my search farther from the stream and it has paid off.  Today was a good haul.  Pics may come later if I'm not too lazy.

Hello, first time observer here. I am having trouble finding anything in the northern Virginia/DC area. I have put in a lot of hours of research and time in the field with no results. I have searched streams and parks in areas that seemed like really good habitat, to no avail. It seems like I am on the brink of a breakthrough but I need a little more advice it seems. Does anyone have any pointers that may guide me in the right direction?

First year, first ovoids! Found in Bmore county in an area filled with box elder near a river and streams. Tree and flood plain hunting is the key my fellow n00bs!

It's still a little early.  My stream is only fruiting in certain spots right now.  Soon it will be everywhere.

You might want to recheck those spots again in a few days.

There’s nothing more satisfying than scoping out a new spot and hitting the jackpot. Especially when you can walk there from home :woot:

I hate everything right now. I'm working doubles all weekend and my buddy went to our spot and said he only stopped because it got dark. Fuck me.

Nice first clusters. Way to go.

It really is all about hunting for the habitat; the right trees and vegetation in the floodplains.  Find that during the right time of the season and they'll likely find you.

And the winner of the Name That Pin competition is doctor ghosty with Mycena! :thumbup:

They sure do look different after a few days and some heavy rain.  Sadly, no ovoids today despite finding a ton of boxelder creekside.

Going to get T-storms all evening here. Suppose to fair up after that for several days. The ovoids we've found so far are just a few here and there. Does that mean they are just staring in that area or will that be it for that spot?
