What about 911?


We fished the Ohio as kids all the time without issue until 911. Now have written warnings at several location. One officer told us its post 911 security policy. All areas are heavily industrialized or you have to cross conrail. Sucks Yes.

Well I found two lol.  I guess I’ll wait another week.  We need some warmer nights here in Kentucky for it to take off.  Veg is already pretty tall though.

My motivation for learning about mycology wasn't actives or even edibles, it was the fast paced taxonomy, the dream of discovering something about pluteus that give me the authority to name or rename one.

My legacy will be Pluteus Maximus.

true thats what i originally thought but figured i had found 8 different types of shrooms that day so was a little excited and they seem to be liking the weather. didn't smell bad but ill just keep an eye on it and hope pins start popping if not no biggy.

Search for areas with more sand, stinging nettle and box elder trees.  In my experience, skunk cabbage is a good indicator you're in the wrong habitat.

Yeah I try to avoid the skunk cabbage as well, but I have found them growing by them. It wasn't the typical boggy place that you'd find them in though.

Yeah it’s just been a late start which is weird because it warmed up quick but it just hasn’t gotten warm enough.  Those two were in a place where the sun hits about all day.  Not supposed to talk about the weather but we need 75-80 degree days and 65-70 degree nights.  Looking back on my pics my best hauls were from mid May to mid June.  I think it’s gonna take off good but definitely going to be digging around in tall vegetation by then.

Awesome looking finds everyone!  :super::bigblunt:  Nice to see the season starting up for so many peeps.  Those mulch findings are incredible!  Good looking stuff from the wild patches too.  :awesomenod:



Went out for a good hike today and came across some more clusters here n there on logs.  Some of the spots that were fruiting good last week were ok today, but some new spots had come up with the recent system.  Here's some of what we came across today.

None of the natural spots around me have started yet. Just mulch beds in certain areas. I haven't checked the creeks and such since the temp drop. It seemed to kick the mulch beds into fruit mode because it's exploding and probably will for next week or two. This is an early start to the season in West pa. Usually the first week or later in May the floodplains blow up.
