thats what I was curious abouy, if the fungi that liked those trees would die off aswell or adapt to the next host species

Took a walk along some  mulched areas known to produce, Pittsburgh area. Found a small handful of mostly frost damaged ovoids,was quite cold last night. Temps have been steadily getting warmer so I'm looking forward to an early season in mulched areas. After all the flooding last year I'm hoping for an above average haul in the floodplains being that nowhere really produced what it should have. Nice finds in Georgia guys, shouldn't take long to have them everywhere.

Almost certain,while I can't do any microscope work spores appeared to be purple/brown which should rule out galerina, also had the usual ovoid smell. Found in same spot that I find them every year. Blue bruising is visible also,
. I only took the one specimen as the others were quite damaged. With the temps being favorable the last week I think it was just an early sporadic fruiting in this area. I've found them growing in February while there was still snow on the ground in the past so this doesn't surprise me. Much too early for natural habitat fruiting though Imo.
