More non-response.

Do you have a rebuttal or are you starting to get it that your position is inconsistent and contradicts itself?

Quote:
No one in their right mind would abandon their family. It's about not being attached to family.

I agree it's insane. But that's what JC tells us we have to do. Are you saying that JC was out of his mind?

The book doesn't say anything about "attachment". That word isn't even present anywhere in the passage. So how do you know that it's about attachment when it doesn't say it's about attachment? What method do you use for this determination?

Quote:
No one in their right mind would give away everything that they own. Remember, this is another attachment lesson.

Once again, the word attachment appears nowhere in the text. Where did you get the idea that it's about attachment when it doesn't say anything of the sort?

What is the method one should use for teasing out what it actually means from what it actually says when the word "attachment" is not used even once in the text?

Relax Diploid, I'm still at work and I'm using a phone to respond so I can't type long messages. I'll present my case when I have time.

Would not making more sense be considered superior?

Not necessarily. Only from a materialist's perspective would making more sense be considered superior because materialists only trust in what they can perceive through the five senses. My non-material case will be presented in the next several hours. It will be interesting to see the reaction it gets.

May I see the passage supporting this claim?

I have full trust in my many psychedelic experiences; I trust they will induce new thought patterns and mind loops coupled with visual distortions anywhere from waves to wtf just happened in hyperspace. :deemsters:

I have a feeling you are going to claim that this experience supports some set of mystical beliefs that revolve around consciousness continuing continuing after death in some way. :satansmoking:

I can't wait to travel through novel environments with the occasional spirit visiting again. By far my alien abduction was the most fun. It doesn't prove anything to me though like you said, but it has given me something really mind blowing to think about.

Still waiting.  You've posted several times since then, but we're still waiting for you to concede the point or to back up your claims.

Good guess, but no. It was just crazy that my minds eye was capable of constructing such vivid holographic scenarios with interesting sci fi/ spiritual entities, environments and structures. However I take all of this as nothing more than pimped out version of watching a "movie" in 3D. :trippinballs:

My 'alien' trip, I recognized as being like a dream. There was no sense of being somewhere else or that it was real. That being said, I cannot believe the stuff I conjured up. Being a sci-fi buff in both books and movies, my 'dream' was like nothing ever written or seen. The alien 'ship' was organic and alive and was constantly changing. It was more life-form than machine and like most trips, almost impossible to describe.

Did 'I' really just make that up? Where did such imagery come from?

I've had a few potent dreams like that myself...

One I vividly recall is being in this room where a wall made of finely polished slabs of old growth began to flux and a face formed. It spoke in an incredibly alien voice (not space alien, but foreign from my experience). The only way I can describe it was layered, as if there were many voices speaking through one... the voice was incredibly deep, tremendous but not terribly loud, yet it pierced me to my very core, it spoke TO me, not AT me like people do.
If I remember correctly, it was saying something about the nature of life and death... I think it was something along the lines of telling me that I am already dead and that being alive, having form, does not separate me from that which is dead...
I'm sure there is a better way I can transliterate that, but regardless the whole thing was.

jesus came to earth(but he is really god) to save us from our sins (which he had earlier decided to punish us for by burning us in hell for eternity) he killed himself so that we could be saved from his prior mistake of creating hell and making the rule that if you sin you go to hell.

No, its even worse than that.  There's no evidence of hell before Jesus, so this "saviour" only saved us from a nullity- death.  So it makes it even more horrible that he damns people left and right for dieing in ignorance of him or not being able to suppress their critical faculties.

Christianity: The belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie undead born to a virgin woman through divine artificial insemination can make you live forever but only if you symbolically eat his flesh, drink his blood, and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil curse from your soul that is present in every human from birth because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

Makes perfect sense to me. Pass the bong. I need another hit. :oogle:
