If Jesus was really God
    #17148160 -

wouldn't he have seen how his teachings would be misused and cause untold suffering?

This must be a most magnificent God,
he allows his children the dignity of being able to punish themselves,
as they see fit.

Haven't you learned anything about Yahweh yet? He creates good and evil, light and darkness, as stated in the bible. He sends billions of souls to hell. He's not apposed to human suffering at all.

I suppose this is where Christians would mention free will.

In any case, I don't think it was a choice between Jesusism and happy peaceful equality and joy of living. It was more between Jesus-ness and the psychopathic god of the Old Testament.

You know there's a passage where he does predict that?

Something about "they will come to honor me with their words and fail in action"

If OC was a real person, wouldn't he eventually move past debunking religion with little to no resistance,

We can only go by what was written by others after his death Jesus wrote none of his teachings himself(at least that we know of) how can we say anything about him his teachngs or his life without assuming.

Science loves me. Reason leads to the understanding that know one could possibly know. Liars saying they know things they could not possibly know is boring and insults intelligence.

Which teachings are being misused?
Is it not more like they are not being used?

It's not that Jesus was God. He just embodied god-like characteristics such as love for all, self-sacrifice, forgiveness, etc. Remember he was a son of God, just like the rest of us. He was an awakened individual. Let's just say he got it. The problem is that individuals who still have a savage mentality, i.e. people in medieval times, don't understand the point of such subtle teachings like Jesus's. They take everything too literally and thus think it right to kill anyone who does not subscribe to their way of life.

You can't skim over Jesus's teachings (or any spiritual master's teachings) one time, very quickly and expect to understand it. The teachings must be viewed from the proper perspective in order to gain full understanding. One problem we have is that scripture is so widely available that anyone can just read it and believe what they want. This causes the misuse and suffering.

Don't blame Jesus, blame those individuals or are using good teachings for some petty, worthless material gain.

Great.  Another self important proclamation that anybody who doesn't agree with the poster's philosophy must be an ignorant fool.

Usually conversations with these people reveal they know jack shit- kinda funny how that works out.

In any case, Jesus said many times that he had god like powers, and your summary of his teachings is baseless.

Quote:
Don't blame Jesus, blame those individuals or are using good teachings for some petty, worthless material gain.

Good teachings?

Good like eternal torture for finite crimes (and noncrimes)?

Good like abandoning your family?

Good like giving away everything you own?

Good like not planning for the future at all?

What a disgusting comment you've made.  I'd hate to see what "bad" is in your eyes.  These teachings are the raving of a mad man that would cause, and have caused, untold misseries in families around the world.
