Electric fence for Gays

MAIDEN, N.C. (CBS Charlotte) — A North Carolina pastor has come under fire after calling for gays and lesbians to be killed off by keeping them locked up behind an electrified fence.

During his sermon at the Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, Pastor Charles Worley said he figured out a way to “get rid of all the lesbians and queers.”

“Build a great big, large fence – 100 miles long – put all the lesbians in there, fly over and drop some food,” Worley said during his May 13 sermon. “Do the same thing with the queers and homosexuals and have that fence electrified so they can’t get out … and in a few years they will die out.”

Worley went out to say that gays and lesbians will die off because “they can’t reproduce.”

The Catawba Valley Citizens Against Hate posted a clip of the sermon on YouTube which has gone viral.



“I was horrified. I was shocked,” Laura Tipton, member of the group, told CBS Charlotte. “I was hurt to hear him say such horrible things about the LGBT community. Those words were absolutely horrific.”

The group will be holding a protest against the church this upcoming Sunday morning. Tipton is expecting some 250 people to show up.

“In his newest sermon, Pastor Worley invited us to come demonstrate at the church,” Tipton said. “I think the congregation will either be very shocked or very silent.”

Worley also said in the video that he will not vote for President Obama because he is a “baby killer and a homosexual lover.”

“God have mercy, it makes me puking sick,” Worley said during the sermon. “Could you imagine kissing some man?”

The church’s website says, “We offer NO apologies in believing the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible is the inerrant Word of God.”

CBS Charlotte has reached out to Pastor Worley for comment


There is only one problem with this fine plan: as gays come from hetero parents, stopping gays from breeding will have minimal effect. A much better plan is to sterilize all heteros - gay problem solved!

Hmm, while I'll ignore the grave problems he seems to have in his understanding of the genetic origin of heritable traits, he does seem to be conceeding that homosexuality is not a choice.  This is curious- usually the religious nutbars rationalize their views by claiming the opposite position which somehow justifies the persecution in their eyes- or at least separates it from other persecutions they don't support.

Incidentally, these are some of the same idiotic views that underlied the scientifically ridiculous eugenics policies active in the US and Europe at some points.  Despite the ofte religious claim that somehow belief in evolutions upports such policies, the fact is they were very often completely devoid of any suggestion of scientific validity.

My brother is a born-again Christian. When he found out Sulu/Takei of Star Trek fame was gay he could no longer watch the show. But here is the deal, I asked him if hermaphrodites were allowed to marry or have sexual relations without sinning as that certainly was not a choice to be born with both sex organs.

He basically mumbled something about not knowing enough to comment despite his many years at Bible school and Bible retreats and grew silent.

Better yet, kill God.  He made man and woman in 7 days.  He should have taken longer look at this gay problem.

I don't watch TV much or have ever read any bibles. Where are priests/religious-people getting all these ridiculous ideas from? Is it something from the 20th and 21st century that has spawned these idiots? Or are they reading the bible and claiming the bible implies that homo's "must be stopped!"?

I don't think its a choice, but I believe some people suppress such feelings and choose not to be 'gay' even though they deep down feel attracted to the opposite sex, obvious this is easier for females. We live in a fucked up society.

I don't think its a choice

It's a choice to have sex or not have sex, but I don't think anyone can chose who they're attracted to. That's not really up to us.

Could you choose to enjoy sex with a male (assuming you're straight) or is your attraction to women non-optional?

I doubt most straight guys wouldn't even get hard with another man. There's no choice about it.

We are attracted to what we are told to be attracted to or to at least keep our mouths shut if not.  Further, attraction is largely based on being attracted to what we see every day.  There is a reason we were attracted to the girl (boy?) next door.  It's because she lived next door and we saw her a lot.

From a classic movie these thoughts.

I think attraction is largely dictated to us by our culture. You can see how the standards for attractiveness have changed throughout time and vary by culture.

That being said, I think you could condition yourself to be attracted to things you aren't currently attracted to. I bet I could condition myself to like anal sex and find men attractive.
