Probabilities

I believe that only one thing is certain:
Something has existed at Sometime!
I went through a phase where I tried to assign an absolute probability of 1, or an absolute probability of 0 to different things. I could go on for hours but I'll try and give the general gist of my thoughts: Think about your life, are we certain that you have lived, or even existed! It is very likely but doesn't have a probability of 1. We could be part of someones dream, or part of a computer simulation. Escalate this idea to the universe as a whole; are we sure this is in existence, or is it part of our dreams, another entities dream or a software simulation?
I thought about this for a while and concluded that: Something has existed at Sometime = 1 Nothing has ever existed = 0 We have existed NOT 0 & NOT 1 The Universe has existed NOT 0 & NOT 1

That's a really interesting way of thinking about things... It's never crossed my mind before. Even if we are merely part of someone's dream, though, how can you say that we do not exist? We will never know if we are part of a dream or not. To us, we exist, and that's good enough for me!

One of the most interesting things I've ever heard anyone say:
Everything is God's dream

So we might only be a concept or concepts? Concepts do exist (= 1). I exist, of that I am certain.
-------------------- To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.' Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence. Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains. Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

I've come to believe our lives are the drawings of our souls on the paper of the universe we know.
-------------------- No one knows the worth of innocence till he knows it is gone forever, and that money can't buy it back. Not the saint, but the sinner that repenteth, is he to whom the full length and breadth, and height and depth, of life's meaning is revealed. Good and evil loose all objective meaning and are seen as equally necessary and contrasting elements in the masterpiece that is the universe.

Good thread.
In the future if you really want us to think you do not exist the best thing to do is not to post. When you post you contradict yourSELF.
Thanks for not existing.

Yeah...I really don't see how anyone could doubt that they exist. The act of doubting....means that there is something doing the doubting.

I'm fairly certain that Freud never said, "I doubt, therefore I am".
You're probably thinking of Rene Descartes, who said, "I think, therefore I am."

But how do we know we really think?
......you don't have to answer.

I thought about this for a while and concluded that:
The Tao produces 1, 1 produces 2. The 2 produce the 3 and the 3 produce all things. All things submit to yin, and embrace yang. They soften their energy to achieve harmony.
