We also need to tell this to those who claim they know there is this god. This is all Poid is doing. I did it to for awhile, until I realized it was futile to try and reason with such irrational beliefs.

I have felt this way in the past about people who don't believe in God.

I was never raised in church.  My parents were party going drunk, ex-hippie druggies.  "family" never meant anything to me.  I went through some stuff as a kid and it caused alot of hate in my being.  Especially towards my mom and dad b/c they could have stopped alot of it or at least believed their five year old daughter when she told them.
I was always an independent, free thinking child.  Never followed "the pack"  And had a strong dislike (hate you may say) for organized religion, still do.  I just didn't understand how people could be so stupid.  It's all fake as far as I am concerned.  You can't organize GOD.  It's like trying to bottle the west wind.  I digress.

My mother quit drinking and all and my dad became a truck driver and left when we moved from Florida to georgia.  I was about twelve.  Over the next few years I grew an extreme hatred for my mother and her religion.  I professed to be an agnostic.

One night I had a strange dream.  i dreamt that a package came for me from my uncle and aunt whom I never spoke to and rarely thought of.  It was a small box.  When I opened it, it contained many treasures and gold.  Light emanated from the box.  Then in the dream, I went outside and everything was covered in snow.  And our house had been transformed into a castle.
I should mention that i often had "meaningful" dreams but they usually involved storms or warnings of some sort and I didn't pay much attention to this one at all.  I just thought it was a cool dream, nothing more.

The next day, my nanny, without calling or saying anything to anyone dropped by the house and gave us a package from my uncle and aunt.  She had been at their house earlier that day and they were moving, cleaning out stuff, and they found an old box of preaching tapes that they thought my mom might enjoy.  It was the EXACT same box from my dream.  You can imagine my great disappointment when I opened the box expecting to find great treasure and found tapes. :frown:

My mom took them and i went onto my basement dwelling hoping that the "treasure" part was that these tapes would make her less of a pain in my neck.

The next day it snowed.  ALOT.  4-6 inches all over the area.  The weathermen weren't predicting anything of the sort and I heard them say that they had no clue where it came from.  Me: "screw school, screw you mom.  This is MY SNOW.  I dreamt it.  I am staying home." lol  Years passed before I would realize what had happened.

God sought me for a number of years hereafter and I refused to listen or believe b/c of hypocrisy in others and human error.  I searched every religion except Christianity, which i had enough of, and they were ALL full of flawed doctrine and couldn't produce what they claimed to have.

Then one day I found something that was different from anything I had ever seen or heard.  I found the ministry of a man.
Not only were his words full of life but his actions proved that he could back up what he claimed.  He was just a man.  Like us.  But there seemed to be something bigger than anything I had ever seen living in him.

Now that something lives in me.  Always has.  I just didn't know it.

You say you will believe in God if he shows himself??  The Bible says no man will ever see "The Father"  You can't.  He is a spirit.  If you will ever see God it  will be through your fellow man.

If a so called "Christian" could do even a tenth of the works that the man they claim to follow did when he was here Then you will believe?

This ministry showed me that the God I had felt all my life but been afraid to acknowledge was real.  After much suffering, I am convinced and at peace in my soul.

I would never preach at, argue, or try to convert anyone to believe what I believe.  Most people are not meant to.  They do not want the truth.  They want to argue.  These things are sacred.  Arguing is pointless.  But this is my story.  That's how my life without God always was my life with God.  I am nothing special, but HE is everything.  HE (God) is love.  BTW, Those tapes were of this man's ministry.

Yeah you'd never preach. U-tube much?

Any way I had a conversion experience too back in the day. But I got over it. So you see that while your story is very interesting it doesn't prove anything except to you. The brain is a mightly interesting and complex thingy. It likes to make connections between things. Check it out in all areas of your life.

Thanks for your testimony preacher.

Icelander,
I see this undertone throughout many of your posts. You take the stance, 'to each his own', but with words of subtle reluctance.
What would you have your fellow man believe?

How is this preaching?  I am simply sharing my story.  I am NOT a preacher.  I doubt you were converted very much.  Once saved always saved.  But you must really be saved.  Emotional experience doesn't equal salvation.  It's amazing how your brain can trick you like that, eh?

Sorry to laugh but the uncomfortable part??  I don't believe I will ever feel uncomfortable in my spirit again.  I don't have to prove this stuff.  If you don't see it now, you will soon.

NOTHING, NOT ONE THING that this man ever said in The Name of The Lord didn't come to pass.  Tens of thousands of people were healed through this ministry and he could tell the very secrets of peoples hearts.

Now this wasn't him as he stated many times.  It was God in him.  Truth stands alone.

Same voice that's in my signature.  I tried to disprove it.  Believe me.  I can't help it if this ministry makes the Bible make sense to me.  It explains all the so called "contradictions"  That I used to see.

If you will take some time to study Moses or Paul the apostle, or Elijah, as a history lesson or whatever, and then look at this man's ministry.....Well, to me, it proves that the same God that was with them is with us.  Organized religion tried to lock him in a box.  They have a form of Godliness but deny the power thereof.  Why would you serve a God like they claim to serve,  A powerless weakling, no better than a mortal, that makes mistakes?  I wouldn't.  I don't.

What "coincidence"  Are you speaking of? :strokebeard3:

I believe people see what lies in their heart.  If you have love, then you see love.  If you have hate or confusion on the inside then you will see it when you try to see God.

But even if you don't believe in "God", listen to the healing testimonials, listen to him discern the peoples lives on these mp3's, SOMETHING was definitely different about this ministry.

No coicidence can happen thousands of times and still remain a coincidence.  Something has to be behind it.

If you had someone in your life that told you things and you came to find through time that these things were always true, you'd believe them too, wouldn't you?  This is what I believe.  GOD himself vindicated this ministry.  He shows us the way.  We have to decide where to go with it.

You doubt because you do not know. My conversion lasted many years and during that time I was an outreach practitioner in a street ministry in a very seedy part of my home town. I traveled through parts of the Midwest giving my testimony at many churches. I really did believe I had found something real. But of course you can't believe that and believe someone can grow and change from your core beliefs.

btw we are all preachers for what we believe.

But even if you don't believe in "God", listen to the healing testimonials, listen to him discern the peoples lives on these mp3's, SOMETHING was definitely different about this ministry.

This my friend is preaching and you are being dishonest or ignorant if you deny it.

Because he created me, he loves me, and he is more than worthy of my praise.  I can't say enough about him.  He is the only thing that is good and true in this life.

You probably think of worship as most people do.  I think of it differently.  Worshipping to me is having a relationship with him.  Loving him enough to know that he knows what's best for me and I will follow him to the depths of the deepest hell if he asked me to.

I fail him every day and fall flat on my face.  But I love him enough to shake it off, get up, and keep walking.

If people realize it or not, they ALL, everyone, worship something.  Most people in this forum seem to worship and rely on their own thoughts and opinions.  I choose to rely on something that isn't as flawed as the human mind.

Why have thoughts and words when you can have power and demonstration?  My main goal in life is to find God's purpose for me and see it accomplished.  Others goals are different than mine.

I accept that.  I am just getting the word out there so that those who are like me can find it and we can come together and get out of here alive.  Soon.

So, it's here.  This is my story.  Hopefully it is His story as well.

Unfalsifiable in what sense?

From Falsifiability - Wikipedia:
Quote:
Falsifiability (or refutability) is the logical possibility that an assertion can be shown false by an observation or a physical experiment. That something is "falsifiable" does not mean it is false; rather, that if it is false, then this can be shown by observation or experiment. Falsifiability is an important concept in science and the philosophy of science. The term "testability" is related but more specific; it means that an assertion can be falsified through experimentation alone.

The term was made popular by Karl Popper. Popper asserted that a hypothesis, proposition, or theory is scientific only if it is falsifiable.

For example, "all men are mortal" is unfalsifiable, since no finite amount of observation could ever demonstrate its falsehood: that one or more men can live forever. "All men are immortal," by contrast, is falsifiable, by the presentation of just one dead man. Not all statements that are falsifiable in principle are falsifiable in practice. For example, "it will be raining here in one million years" is theoretically falsifiable, but not practical.

Popper stressed that unfalsifiable statements are still very important for science and are often contained in scientific theories as unfalsifiable consequences. For example, while "all men are mortal" is unfalsifiable, it is still contained as a consequence of the falsifiable theory that "every man dies before he reaches the age of 150 years". Similarly, the ancient metaphysical idea of the existence of atoms has led to corresponding falsifiable modern theories. Popper invented the notion of metaphysical research programs to name such ideas.

In contrast to Positivism, which held that statements are senseless if they cannot be verified or falsified, Popper denied that falsifiability somehow makes scientific theories special. According to Popper, falsifiability is merely a special case of the much more general notion of criticizability, even though he admitted that falsification is one of the most effective methods by which theories can be criticized.

"This my friend is preaching and you are being dishonest or ignorant if you deny it"

I guess I don't look at it as preaching b/c of the connotation you were giving it.  I am not being forceful with my words.  I am just talking.  I testify.  I am not called to preach.

If you want to talk semantics and stray from the point I am speaking of, then that is fine.  Call it what you will.  Call me what you will.  It's all good!

And What could cause you to disbelieve if you believed once?  This thing I do not understand.

What then do you believe?  Not to argue or challenge but b/c I really am curious.  (not trying to bait and switch like most people in here when they say that)
