I was brought up in church sun, wed, sat, etc. And absorbed it all in as a young child. That was everything till i was 9 or so then no more church but still pounded in by family.then at 14-15 started smokeing buds and takeing cid and i discovered that I didnt belive in Religion.

Looking back i cant decide if the psychedelics or myself discovered these truths as I was comeing into my adult brain.

And the christian god which i was taught was humble, loving, etc needed to be praised and to be in church on the sabbath, and "to pay taxes"
or to hell with them to burn for eternity...he can...go to hell:smile:

To belive in something that i dont know for a fact is ridiculous to me.

I may be goin to hell in a bucket but at least im enjoying the ride.:rasta:

I was raised in a devout protestant household, and in my preteenage years I became curious and existential, questioning any beliefs I held.

Finding my own atheism was disasterous, I was taught from a young age that the bible and the figures within it were the basis for all morals.

Freeing myself from faith, ripped me away from any morals I had as well. It took me many years, and many mistakes to develop my own moral compass and to guide myself by it.

The laws of man still mean hardly anything to me, for I do not hold myself to guidelines and restrictions based on the consequences there are for breaking them. I have an individual understanding of what is right and wrong, set by who I am, those who I desire as company and the activities I believe to be important.

I once asked a very old, wise man, what he thought about God and Religion and he said.

"It seems to be a common thing among mankind."

I think that humans have the ability to see how beautiful and magical life and existence is. And seeing how such things as nature, the earth and the heavens are greater than ourselves, we immediatley try to raise our importance by way of God, Religion and Salvation. We want so bad to be more special that our surroundings, environment and our neighbors, we lack to see that which makes us special is the ability to percieve such things.

I will not participate in this drama.

Ahimsa said:
If one owns something then it cannot be taken away. Since there are no such things, there is no 'ownership' in that sense of the word. There is possession perhaps, meaning that one is in some way connected, but never to the extend that that connection can never be changed.

You're making an appeal to a concept thats very nature precludes it being exemplified, though, to provide commentary on whether or not something "belongs" to a person. If the idea that something belongs to someone doesn't lie contingent upon the fact that the something cannot be removed from someone, then it is regardless that it can be removed from someone in terms of if it "really" belongs to someone or not.
It is fine if you personally have a concept of ownership or belonging that cannot be exemplified if that which is owned or is belonging to someone can be taken away, removed, or that the connection can be changed, yet it isn't reasonable to tell someone that something they state belongs to them doesn't really belong to them because of the nature of your conception of ownership when they were utilizing the much more common definition of the term which does not lie contingent upon the connection never changing in order to exist.

In other words, you can't tell someone that something doesn't belong to them because it can be removed when they are using the sense of belonging that can exist even if it can be removed.

No available physical evidence for the existence of god = There is no god
No available physical evidence for the existence of ETs = There are no ETs
We haven't found a definite cure for cancer = There is no cure for cancer
-            II                      -                aids    = There is no cure for aids.

i can go on and on pointing out just how flawed this line of reasoning is.

If we we're to assume that god does exist , then it would be nothing less than  logical to assume that we won't be able to figure 'him' out that easy , even  though some might say that this arose from an already illogical assumption.

Nice of you to share your story , even though its originality could be compared to the consistency of reasoning(or lack of) within the christian community for example.

Looking at your story , nothing would make more sense  than to see you grow into a highly doubtful and skeptical person as a result of this 'childhood trauma' created by your parents.

It seems as though all of your anxieties have indeed disappeared , and all your fears and worries , as repressed as they may be , all point towards - DEATH

is outside of yourself , and in control of your SELF made you want to not be alive anymore.
If this is the regime.. im out !
when your personal sovereignty  was on the line .. death was not that far fetched of an idea.
who knows.. maybe you could get to talk to him and give him a piece of your mind about the way hes running things.

p.s.
i would like to say that the title of your thread implies that the thread is about you , therefore inviting comments on it , which i am now doing.
Also.. those who have chosen to comment with a 'different' approach received criticism in return from yourself , opening up the doorway even more for me to unleash my thoughts on "your life without god"

also.. as it is my right to exercise personal beliefs in this section of the forum i will say that i do believe that I am god.
and im obviously in your life.
I believe that you are god as well , therefore i am experiencing him just like you are.
I will go further on to say that nothing exists BUT god , giving every little unrealized god the absolute freedom to exercise its godly will.

Just because a couple books , made so many people act like incompetent slave bitches...
doesn't mean that god doesn't exist.
it means.. that they had the wrong idea about it.

also.. i would like to add that i am very glad to know that your thread is out there , getting views , because this is in my eyes a textbook example on how people completely loose their faith in the unknown , and consequently fear and ignore it , only recognizing what IS known to the mind... Even if its dead fucking wrong in some cases.

I was curious what everyone's experiences here on the Shroomery are regarding god, but first I'll share mine.

I am God.
I am everything.
There is only one thing i will do.
Only one action for all eternity.
I will start the process of self replication.
I will create many many replicas of myself.
They will go around.. doing things while i just sit here instantly aware of it all , for it is actually me out there doing it.
This is my sacrifice, for all those other gods out there.. can choose to see my perspective if they completely silence their own.
Then.. they can see what creation is.
They can see.. who they truly are, and be at ease with the thought that all is always forgiven for the love i have for myself is infinite and eternal.
You will all have the ability to do what i have done within the realm of replicas.
You will also be able to create your own replicas and send them out to learn while you rest.(dreaming)
These replicas will also be able to do the same.
No matter what it is that you are experiencing , essentially.. you are experiencing ME.
You are.. ME.
You are.. experiencing yourself.
Perhaps.. if you forget this one day.. it might seem as though i am controlling everything..
ask yourself then - "Who am I really ?"
you will see that as you could well answer 'nothing' .. you can say that you are everything.. at the same time.
Never really in control of anything.. but yourself..
no matter how it may appear to be.. there is nothing but YOU.

i never had any religious beliefs imposed on me by anybody.
i started taking lsd just to prove that all these cooks out there are stupid and that there is a rational explanation for it and to show how i am not afraid and can be in complete control of myself when under the influence.

i started taking the mushroom for the same reason and had intentions of conquering every psychedelic substance out there while attempting to completely mock the experience with my confidence AND i was very successful at it.

it wasn't until i decided.. to take a significant amount of mushrooms and sit in complete silent darkness for the whole time that something completely MAGICAL happened making me realize why they called the magic mushrooms.
after a while.. i forgot my name.. and where i was physically.
it was then.. that i remembered who i am.
how foolish , but necessary it was to forget in the first place.

again..
it wasn't until i decided
of MY OWN free will...
perhaps i have allowed  myself to be seduced..
but THIS is the only 'god'  i will accept.
one that give me complete freedom and holds no judgment at the same time.

if i have been caught up in delusions...
then i am glad to have deluded myself , for i now see that whether it is god or not , i love and appreciate everything around me much more.
i am more accepting of other people and their ideas , knowing that this diversity ultimately benefits the god which is me.
i might give you some shit if i disagree with you..
argue.. cuz its fun..
provoke because i feel like it..
but in the end , i truly do not hope to change your mind , nor would i want you to follow me blindly.
i also hurt people..
make them mad and make them cry..
i do stupid stupid things to myself and others sometimes while ultimately feeling no guilt for it whatsoever !

Great, all good and everything. I really have no problem with people having a subjective belief in god.

But if they tell me they know it's the objective truth. That's another matter.
