DMT, Peroxide and Oxidation
    #527281 -

Here's a few quick questions for those with a bit more chemistry wizardry than myself:

Is hydrogen peroxide capable of oxidizing DMT?
If so, what would the oxidized product be?
How about psylocin/psylocybin? Would they be oxidized in H202?
Would the concentration of the H202 solution have any effect on its oxidation potential, aside from just the amount it can oxidize?

Thanks for your time.

if you are still interested, pure h2o2 would probably cause a radical chain mechanism that would probably react with the benzene ring in psilocybin to destroy the molecule, but the h202 you buy in stores in U.S. is only 3%, and I have used it straight from the bottle w/out ill effects(in my terrarium). I think if 3% had any effect, it would be to remove the PO4 from the benzene ring in psilocybin to just hydroxyl, which is more like the structure of psilocin. I don't know the chemical structure of DMT.
Hope this helps

I'm bumping this really old thread because I would like to see if anyone has an answer to this question. I am interested in the answer.

What is the effect (if any) of peroxide on DMT, Psilocin, and Psilocybin?

Also is H2O2 pH +/- ?

Is H2O2 considered nonpolar/polar (either?)

Here is the chemical structure of DMT...

--------------------
We had two bags of grass... pellets of mescaline... five sheets of high-powered blotter acid... a salt shaker half-full of cocaine... a whole galaxy of multicolored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers.
Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer...
- a pint of raw ether...
- Shit !
two dozen amyls.
Not that we needed all that for the trip... but once you get locked into a serious drug collection... the tendency is to push it as far as you can.
