theyre all pour. i feel like its the only way to go with cups, anything else is pure madness to me. but i know there are other effective methods.
I did no-pour pasty plates for a long time last year. I made the switch to cups about 10mo ago and have never looked back.

I burned a hole in the side of my slime cups, covered with micropore tape and do mo pour with them. So far, no issues.

Just ordered these guys… moving on from plates for now. I don’t need to worry about punching any holes do it?

No hole needed. Be careful opening the container to do transfers. The lids can splatter drops of water everywhere. And if you flex the lid to far they can crack. Not sure why, but I went from a 50/50 contam rate to 90% clean when I would open them upside-down too. Oh and careful if you have moisture and it runs around the lip of the cup don't let it back down to the agar. I used a paper towel in my SAB to soak it up. And watch the inside lid lip for moisture too.

Moisture has been a huge issue for me, I don’t know if it’s so much of an issue or just annoying. But I feel like the plates that condensate more often contam more easily. I wonder if the holes would eliminate that issue? Even if it was a little pin size hole. Thanks for the useful info, will definitely keep in mind.

I know it's not all agar but half of it is. I put all my cultures into long term storage. I did 1 slant and 1 distilled water vial for each. Also put a few select ones into 2ml cryo vials to share with people. That is my homemade vial holder in the back too. It can be pc'd and only cost me $2.50 US.

First time with agar and SAB.....I'll admit that my agar knowledge is lacking though I intend to develop it. Can anything be done to transfer or kill the contams on the plates that have good growth otherwise?

Great start. Far better than my first SAB work when I started.

altford78 is correct, transfers.

We don't kill the bad part, we transfer the good parts to new plates. The diagonal light brown patch here is bacteria. Leave that in this plate. The wispy root-like stuff on the middle right is healthy shroom mycelium. Your first plate and second-to the last plate also have viable options.

If you have enough clean plates, I'd transfer like 3 or 4 plates from each of those 3 plates for a total of 9 or 12 new plates. More chances to get it right, and more practice. Seal up the new plates after transfer.

You can transfer a small piece, like a pea size or smaller with scalpel of the healthy shroom mycelium. Flame the scalpel, then cool it in the new agar plate's agar, then transfer.

Spray ISO alcohol in the SAB ten minutes before you use it, and do NOT put flame in the SAB. Wear gloves, mist them with ISO, don't start a fire. Don't pass your hand over the new plate, even with ISOed gloves.

Do that from this plate to several new plates, let it grow out and post new pix. Might need another transfer then, or might not, might be ready to go to next step (sterilizing grain and putting this on grain in jars)

After you transfer, seal this back up in case you need it later. You might not. You can even put it in a fridge. I have a small dedicated dorm fridge for this hobby, not sure I'd put this plate even sealed in my food fridge. But you can also just seal it up and not put it in a fridge. But in a fridge both the good stuff and bad stuff will grow much more slowly.

Read this:
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27646632#27646632

and especially read the three links in the first quarter of it marked:

--Learn sterile techniques.

--Learn to transfer away from contams (contaminations) on agar.

--Learn to clone.

Awesome tips! I just bought some slime cups myself to try this method (I HATE pouring plates; arthritis makes it a serious bitch, especially in a SAB). Between this and a new FH, I'm hoping my success rate working with agar is gonna increase dramatically. Contam has been a pretty big issue for me, which I think is due to touching the sides when I struggle to pour due to my hand issues.

Hey guys, can I get a quick evaluation on these two plates? These are transfers from a liquid spore syringe I made, and I'm not sure if those are mold or cube myc...

First one, pretty clean, front and back

Second one, I botched the transfer a bit with the scalpell, so I got myc all over the place, but it's pretty how it grows in so many places, also managed to slice through the agar, hence the 'crack', front and back
