That pouch has about 2 lbs of morels from yesterday.  The puffer pics are from today.  I mentioned last week how sometimes you'll find thick fruits with solid stems. Well, there's one for you.

Nice finds all! And congratulations to 1st time finders. If you follow any of the advice regarding putting a little back somewhere else it’s quite likely you will see them for years to come. My initial finds were 7 yrs ago and it’s quite likely almost everything I’ve picked since are descendants of those.

Always give a little back - stick a piece of cap or a stem butt in another place near your find - drop some prints or old caps in a water bottle, punch a hole and squirt to your hearts content - this requires almost no effort and though there are no guarantees - these approaches do work and all it takes is giving back a little of what you find with no expectation of payback and if it happens it’s glorious...

Enjoy! And by the way Thank You Textured Sounds and Koods  - the link in textured sounds signature is a must look for anyone interested in the many faces of ovoid.

My first find, my fourth hunt! Thanks for all the help ladies and gents! NEPA, or more like northeast central PA. 20 ft off the Susquehanna!

If you need permethrin you didn't go out in the woods enough as a kid. Had lyme twice before age 12, but now I dont even worry about ticks. I swear I am not an anti vaxxer or any of that pseudoscience bullshit, but if you're wearing long pants, check yourself, and shower shortly after bushwacking theres really no need to be spreading those chemicals all over your skin and clothing.

Also those are looking magic but I have my doubts they're ovoids. If they are that's a wildly different cap morphology than SEPA.

Cold spells make for nippled caps.  Those are ovoids.

Oh so it is due to the colder temps? I wondered why they were more nipply than most I see from south of me. My buddy in central PA ID'd them for me. He's more southwest of me and his finds have been slightly less nipply. Nippy temps make for nipply ovoids I suppose!! Just like human nipples in the cold, the colder the pointier, HA! These literally have been the only mushrooms of any species I have found yet up here in NEPA. I haven't had much time to look though. Guess I got lucky! It truly has been a great time!

I didn't go hunting today but I did scope out some very promising locations. Flood planes from the creek, debris, mulch from people logging. I don't see why I haven't found any when I live right on the Ohio River.

Went hiking with a buddy at a state park today. (New hunting grounds)
Found lots of individual fruits.
No big clusters.
No great photos.
Still a nice pile of ovoids.

Void?
Each mushroom here I pinched under gills turned green/blue immediately.
All small specimens
Stems are not bright blue but stained
Found in decaying wood area in heavy grass next to Ohio river.
Really had to look for these.
Notice  stain spots on cap
Also one nippled cap in the mix
Don't know what else these would be
Edit : my first Ohio ovoids on a rainy day
THICK BUSH WHACKING.
about 100 yards from the Ohio river.
They're not always on the bank.
Many lessons learned. last stop oftthehunt!
If any Ohio hunters want to meet up this weekend let me know!thanks

I’m pretty surprised that essentially everything that was just coming up last weekend are now completely rotten. Not a good situation for any new fruits popping up in moldy celandine and the black slime left behind when a cluster goes. The bug situation is out of control. Even new fruits are hosting maggots that destroy the caps in a day.

The permatrine or whatever it's called helps with the ticks. Thanks for that. So far in my area the slugs are the only things eating them. I'm just starting to find larger caps almost the size of my palm. Trying to grab all I can before the bugs and weeds get unbearable.
