I am very fortunate to be resistant to poison ivy from working in it so much as a lad.

I’m thinking I’m going to have to hit up some major creeks and small rivers around me to find anything, my small local creek seems like everything is rather new not much mycelium growing in the brush piles stuck by trees.

In Pennsylvania the fucking baby ticks are everywhere and I’m horrified of them, I must have stepped or walked through a nest because I found Dozens of them on me when I got home, I could always feel mature ticks on my scalp but these little ones Are so small and flat I can’t feel them.

Unfortunately ticks breed in wet weather, they are fucking exploding right now.

Fortunately baby ticks don’t carry diseases

People tend to lose sensitivity to poison ivy as they get older.

What part of PA are you from. I'm looking for someone to hunt with once or twice. I love to hunt. Quickly becoming an obsession. haven't had the chance to share the experience with anyone yet.

Went this afternoon and checked out the area that has been slow starting this season.  Still not much going on, but did manage to find a couple new fruitings around.  Not many, just a couple clusters from buried things covered by grass.  Still not sure how the debris piles will do, with them being fresh from last yr, but I'll keep an eye on em for a couple more weeks.  Regardless of how they do this season I'm thinking next year is gonna be better, as long as it doesn't flood again like it did. 

Didn't get many pics today but at least I saw a couple.  Hopefully more to come from this spot later this week.

Noob question for the big winners and experienced/veteran ovoid pickers.
I'm looking at my first findingg to be rather small. Only found about 20 small ones.
Can I find these along creeks too? Or only big rivers?
Want to find big ones/baskets full and am going to southern Ohio this weekend.

Yes, you can also find them on creeks.  Any creek that dumps into a main river, in thier territory, is a candidate for ovoids.  Once you learn how to spot the habitat, you'll be surprised at how many areas look promising.  Don't be discouraged that you've only found 20 so far.  A lot of us didn't find massive clusters when we first started out.  Keep at it and sooner or later you'll find some ovoids that'll make your eyes widen and jaw drop.

In general I calculate them at twice the potency of Cubes. But they do vary. I like to homogonize them and make chocolates with a gram each

This study has a breakdown of the psilocybin/psilocin content. You could compare that to cubes, I would imagine, to get a better idea.

I think ovoids also contain baeocystin, which makes the effects different than what you get from cubes.

Okay so I have some noob questions. This is my third season hunting and I finally started to find some. It's been raining a lot so I decided to go out this morning and check a patch where I had found them before - nothing.. I figured maybe it's been a little too cold (a little below 45 at night), or maybe too rainy but at that point I gave up hunting which is where my questions come in.

1. Do they fruit during the rain or after it's passed? (Keep in mind it's been raining for a few days. I know it takes time for them to fruit)

2. Do some patches fruit while others don't? In other words should I have given up like I did?

I guess I really only had those two questions.. but I'd appreciate any response

Honestly, whatever works for you.  Some people gave home through the teks to grow them.  Others just bury stem butts. I've got two cluster butts half the size of my fist buried under 2 inches of mulch in my flower garden. My only concern is the mulch.  I got it from a free mulch dump so I'm not sure if the type of wood.

There is some mixed information out there but ovoids are definitely more potent than standard cubes excluding PE variety. I just chewed on a stem the other day while hunting and inadvertently got a above threshold trip. It pissed me off because it pretty much ruined my plans for the rest of the day. They are like that, they can surprise you.I had submitted some samples to a man in Europe writing a book who was testing psilocybes and he sent me the results. Overall the ovoids I sent him varied from fruit to fruit and were generally higher in psilocin/ psilocybin / baeocystin by about 1-1/2 times over cubes. The mans name is Jan and he will publish his findings when everything is complete. He asked me not to pass on any detailed results until his book is released.
