I’ve never found nor do I recall ever seeing photos of an ovoid this large.

The ovoids I'm finding take a while to bruise blue and most of them do it only slightly. Is this common for ovoids, or common when finding slightly older, dryer mushrooms in general?

:awethumb: They're starting to take off. I found some along the Susquehanna in Pa. and some more along my home grounds. Looks like Koods is growing a sequoia phenotype over there by DC, lol. :mushroom2:

This is my first year looking but now live with land that has prime conditions. After a few days searching this has been the closest specimen I've found. Could anyone tell me if this is way off the mark or what? Saw it yesterday.

To me it seems to be a possible young cyanescens..ironic as soon as I found it my friend came over and i left the area. I saw this one and a couple others very small but I'm confident I can return to the area.

Thanks in advance, sorry I couldn't get a good gill picture..

This looks like a good area right? Behind me there’s a lot of celandine growth, and the creek Isent cut so deep into the dirt. There’s many debris piles around, I’m hoping they come up soon. Around same area

Jesus I don’t even feel right posting now after seeing those giant ones koods found wtf..

Here goes though. 3rd time out, first season looking here in north NJ, really just walking a trail along a river and looking down but not really walking into the brush so I’m sure there’s more there if I really get in there on a day without so many people out.




And here are some habitat pics. I could be wrong but I don’t think I was directly under a box elder although they were definitely around



If there’s anyone out here in north jersey with some tips to spare I’d definitely appreciate it. For now I’m going to keep checking around this river and check the same spot after some more rain. Cheers everyone, happy hunting

Do the wild ovoids generally fruit at the same time as ones in cultivated beds or do they come a little earlier/later?

I have purple spore prints and blue bruising on the last few as well. They just got a little smashed up

Smashed up ovoids don’t turn reddish. The big one might be an ovoid. The rest are agrocybe.
