Nice finds Herbtaylor.  Looks as though the flooding didn't effect your area.

Checked my washed out spot & another possible spot.  The 1st possible was impossible to reach & the 2nd was as bust as well. 

However, a buddy of mine gave me some of his morel haulwhich prompted me to check a local morel spot = 1 so I guess I can't be to disappointed.

Very impressive Beaverdam and nice fines all. The pairs bloomed last week and my part of NJ  so I guess got another two weeks or so here.  Ramps are up and haven’t seen any morels which is not unusual since they are rare to me .
Enjoy the hunt, live the hunt or live to hunt -  whatever works for you.

So, just so I can gain some perspective...how many hours hunting and how many ovoids found? Because from my perspective our area seems bleak and lifeless...so if the ratio isn't astronomical, at least I might still have some hope.

Things are starting up!  Nothing too spectacular, but it was good to see em.  Everything is still small, even the mature ones, but that's just how they'll be until the temps rise.  These pics are from our local early spot. 

The first pic has Galerina on the right side of image.  All those just gettn into ovoid hunting, plz be careful out there and make sure you double check your finds

Five minutes and four fruits with some pins. I only spent about 15 minutes in the woods.

I went beeline to that spot since it was the first place to fruit last year. It conveniently in the woods in my neighborhood so I didn’t have to go far

From our early MD spot.  Actually heard about the pins on wednesday, but wasn't able to get out until today.  There isn't many up yet and most stuff was drying out.  This next system will be nice and get the ball rolling tho.  Everywhere should be good by the end of next week.

Not only the nipple but how they grow on logs like that. I never see that around here

You should get some prints and see if you can get those other genetics going in your area. In the pnw we definitely see two distinct phenotypes. I'd assume the bigger, chunkier, more light tan ones are from the Ohio area. The smaller more delicate and umbonate ones from the PA area. Just based off of finds I see out east.

The nipply PA variety get really big but they aren’t as dense.
