My best spots have way more small plant/grass than what you guys usually show. I'll get habitat pics of where I find them next time I go out. Still waiting on some rain.

the habitat in those recentky posted photos will have tons of plants and grasses in two plus weeks, too.  It just hasn't exploded with growth yet

Exactly. That’s one reason I always get out super early is to find new logs before they become invisible. This is a spot I found later in the season last year. Tons of ovoids close by but the grass and other greenery was so high I did t see these logs. I should have mentioned that those were not ovoids to avoid the confusion. Also found a ton of Galerina in there as well.

I'm from NE Ky and this is the year I hope to find my first Ovoids! Last year I looked for them during Morel season and didn't find any but this year I'm going to wait until later in April. You guys are the masters for sure!

Those boys look really dry...almost white. Nice finds.

textured sounds and I spent the morning checking out one of his spots but nothing is out yet, not even polyporous squamosis (dryads saddle). The river took a big hit with some of those off-season floods...lots of sand and silt covering areas that were flourishing last year.Also, the celandine is alive and well....nothing stops that shit.

Anyhoo, it was awesome to finally get together with a fellow shroomerite with common interests.:mushroom2:

Nice finds Jaybob!  Definitely better than we did this morn.  I would've taken at least one that dry lol. Its gonna be another good week before anything really gets going here in the Bmore area.  Plus, with the floods from last yr, a lot of piles have been buried, shifted or washed further down river.  We at least found fresh debris around some spots that had clusters on logs that stayed put.  It's gonna be an interesting hunt this season.  Took a couple habitat pics to help out those just gettn started.  Other than that, only came across some dried out Galerina and some turkey tail.  All in all a wonderful morn hiking with Thayendanegea. :cool:
