Hopefully mid June isn't going to be too late for me. Moving back to Ohio for Ovoid season and school. 😂 haven't been on in a while, wish you all the best of luck for this year's season.

I'm bored, it's soooooo dry here that I'm having mushroom withdrawals :crazy2: guess it's time to start fishing again until the rains return or take an extended camping trip in North Georgia.

Yeah I would think the concentration of ammonia and inorganic salts might be caustic to myclelium.

They do like it as long as it's aged and dried (They like horse and cow poo as well, I haven't tried commercial fertilizers). I have to admit I have only experimented with the ovoid mycelium, I have not actually fruited anything at this point in time.

From what I have read, a new outdoor patch may not fruit until the 2nd year, I don't know how much truth there is to it, but my flower pot is a year old and fully colonized now but no pins and it's near if not already prime time for them in my area. Once I finish my experiment with local wood varieties I will do more projects that are geared toward fruiting conditions, I have plenty of mycelium to play with.

In this study they grabbed some colonized wood, some sandy soil, froze it overnight, and fruited it 10 days later. Not sure why yours aren't fruiting, but you might be doing something wrong.

Because the wood was colonized and primed to go. It takes a patch of uncoloinzed mulch at least a year to mature, but my experience is that a seeded mulch pile almost never produces the next calendar year. A realistic goal is to have fruiting after the second winter. fresh piles seeded in the fall of 2017 should fruit this spring.

I took 6 big bags of mulch laid it out about 3 inches deep and seeded it with plenty of colonized wood and spore water two years ago.  Last year it was fully colonized all over but didn’t fruit anything that I know of.  This spring will be the 2nd year for it so it should do something hopefully.  It has potential to yield a lot of fruit it’s a ton of mycelium 6 mulch bags totally solidified mycelium lol.

I introduce colonized chips to two new spots in my yard last fall and both had fruits this spring. It just depends on the conditions and location in my opinion. No heavy fruiting yet or anything but I’ve also found a couple spreading outside the initial relocation zone already.

In my experience a fully colonized grain bag burried in a small mulch bed fruited the following spring.

Also, fully colonized cakes burried in mulch have fruited the following spring.

I think the difference is fully colonized spawn vs. just planting a few butts or colonized chips.

Edit to clarify: not massive fruiting but fruiting non the less.

Yeah I’m talking about taking stem butts and colonizers pieces. If you’re adding a lot of colonized material it will take less time time

Also I should mention that there was no continued fruiting the following years that I know of.  Hope to see you soon koods.  😁
