What is the definition of white, as it applies to what people call, "the white race"?

What is a clear and distinct definition of white, such that we can immediately tell if someone is white or not white?

'White' is a relatively new term, and a dangerous one at that. Its meaning will differ depending on who you ask: I'm sure there are many people who would be quick to label themselves as 'white' even though they aren't traditionally from 'white' countries. But to be quite frank, if you stopped playing these pedantic mental games you'd know exactly how to spot a 'white' person, it doesn't take an anthropologist to recognise someones genetic heritage.

Now, what is it you're actually asking?
And why are you asking people to define a purposefully vague term? I'm sure you can google the word 'Caucasian'
Why are you hiding your real opinions behind a thin veil of feigned moral superiority?

It's semantics really. What defines black? African? What about southern Indians or native tribes that have the same skin tone? Well, doesn't matter. It's a deliberately vague term, just like white. I don't find it "dangerous". Just a wide-reaching general term.

This argument is fucking stupid, in fact, it isn't even an argument. Plenty of people are hard to put into any one category. And it depends on who is setting the category. Where I grew up, Italians weren't white. To many people, Irish and Jews aren't white.

I'm just trying to get a clear definition here. That is what this forum is all about. It is about MAKING A FUCKING ARGUMENT, OR SHUTTING THE FUCK UP.

Again, this means there aren't categories? It doesn't matter who is setting the category or what the label of said category is, what matters is the existence of said category.

Now come on, stop being a coward and get to the meat of it: why are you requesting the definition of a purposefully vague category?

Strip-down basic assumptions? What exactly are you stripping down here? I don't see you questioning any sacred cows, just yelling about wanting an exact definition for "white" lol. This isn't philosophy. It is a perfect example of literal semantics. It is a pointless argument. If you really want to shout into an echo chamber, head to political discussion. You'll find a lot of people in there willing to rant about whiteness.

amen - I strongly agree with the importance of the topic and your points. 

And all we hear is black & white. Hispanics, Chinese, etc. must laugh at this absurdity.

Isn't creating (ambiguous) color categories the opposite of what we should be doing?

If we don't address basic issues like this, things are only going to get worse. Much worse.

White is a judgment; You were born white because you were judged to be white. "Mighty White of You" can apply to a black person who tries to raise other black people into the category of white so they can reincarnate as whites into white neighborhoods and do white things.

Jesus is depicted as white because he can forgive sins and forestall your reincarnation as a black person.

My god, man. You think you're the first one to pose this god awful, meaningless argument? This topic is brought up on every sub-forum at least twice a week. And there is never a solution. Because you are desperately and angrily searching for strict definitions for words that BY DESIGN do not have one. Terms that are deliberately as vague and wide-reaching as possible. The benefit of concocting some rock solid, never changing, universally agreed upon definition for "white", is zero. No point at all. Just drop it and stop sweating all over yourself.
