Well, that's what you get for trusting someone like hashed. I mean, the guy did fuck another shroomerite in a trade IRL and then taunted him about it online. How low can you go?

I messed up in that comment, it wasn't a shroomerite that he fucked over, it was a guy in reddit. Typed out "shroomerite" on autopilot

"Adaptability to specific types of wood(Secondary metabolites). this causes substantial speciation in plant pathogenic species of fungi. The Psilocybes are not eating living plants, but they are eating wood that has the chemicals still present in them.

Combine this with other environmental factors in combination with more then a single Genotype present within a species, and one or more of the genotypes might start separating from the group, leading to multiple phenotypes, and eventually speciation."

These apply to all mushrooms, not just psilocybes.

"Speciation can then be understood in terms of general models applied to other organisms. Trends of resource partitioning, divergent selection, etc., lead to genetic isolation of sub-populations. The exact way in which this occurs is still hotly debated

Mushrooms also have some unique genetic properties which may assist speciation events. Because mating type loci can become self-compatible as a result of only a few single mutations, mushroom lineages can switch breeding systems abruptly, leading to rapid sympatric isolation."

Food for thought

So did this ever get 100% ID'd as P.Cubensis?
They sure didn't have the general characteristics as normal Cubes...?
Or was / could it simply be due to the odd circumstances in climate?
Still curious that is all.
-----
Plus did you ever find more of this type phenomena of phenotype?
And are you going to check this spot after what we just got?

Not happy how this thread turned out, so don't make it worse people! Xx

Just keep thinking they're Texas P.Subcubensis...
They look identical almost.

Wow! What a fantastic read. I just got through this whole thread. The suspense was unbearable, wondering when this kid was going to crash and burn, and in what manner. But his failing moment was so... ordinary. He struggled so hard to get the fame he so richly desired, but instead got only what he deserved.

R.I.P.

No shit, if you find a wild cube and stabilize it, you just created a new variety, put you name on it, your find, your name, have it circulate, destroying egos in the process, making the world a better place, how is that egotistical?

Are mycologists who name new species "egotistical"
Was inski "egotistical" when he named P. subsecotioides.

How the heck is that egotistical, hard work and your own var. name, egotistical? Just go away.
That is just like stating mycologists who create species names are egotistical.

There is so much fail in this comment that I don't even know where to start.

Are we surprised that this person was all talk? I sure hope not.

So does anybody agree with me about them being possibility introduced from Texas as P.Subcubensis??
I just think there's too many inconsistencies with that find.

I know I have not been hunting long..
But I have not seen any like this nor anyone else with similar finds to this one.
Especially in the conditions it was found in*

That theory is about as plausible as the wood-loving cubensis theory.

Certainly possible, but not my first guess by a long shot. I would need to see some convincing evidence before seriously considering the possibility.

I personally don't find it all that crazy to see cubensis on wood, not the first time it's happened on here.
