It is not entirely uncommon to find Cubensis growing from enriched woodchip in Australia either, however these were also growing in the middle of (subtropical) winter.. It is the combination of these two occurences that makes this interesting.

I just want to clarify that I am not taking away from the fact that this is a cool and rare find. I was more saying I don't understand why everyone was so skeptical about what they were.
