That's a very interesting perspective about the gurus.

Jesus said we should love our enemies, because the alternative, to hate, causes misery.

Jesus said we all sin, and we can be saved from our sin.

Buddha said we all suffer, and we can be saved from our suffering.

Ego-death / death of self (transcendence) is a common foundation of many spiritual teachings.

What did Jesus ever have to say about ego death or self transcendence?

Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." John 3:3

Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it. Luke 17:33

Jesus's life can be seen as a metaphor for ego death and self transcendence. He is tortured, suffers death, descends to the underworld and then resurrects in glory. That is an allegory for self transcendence and renewal.

and are you a-voiding the 'hell' thread in the forum 'spirituality and mysticism'. A poster claims 'Jesus' DID warn of 'Hell' and lists the verses which 'prove' so? Did you not claim somewhere that this is really Catholic propaganda? if not, how do you answer the verses he quotes. See you there?

I have a couple posts in that thread. First of all, I don't think hell is propaganda. Hell is very real, eat too many mushrooms in a bad environment and you get a very real experience of hell. In fact a lot of things can lead to hellish states of existence. What I am saying is that the idea that after death, most of the world's population is going to suffer torture for never ending temporal time is based on a mistranslation of the Bible. The Jews had no such concept.

Amen

The idea of the punishment of eternal damnation did not come from Jesus.

I asked a Christian recently if they notice some people are living in hell right now
on this planet and they looked at me like I was nuts. I guess that many people live in
misery is an aspect of life some people don't notice.

Likewise, the concept of heaven has been contaminated and bastardized.

Hell is not some bad living situation in this life.  It is to be under the wrath of God for eternity, eternal conscious torment.

Now that is a hard doctrine.  Those who do not accept it refuse it because it doesn't jive with what they think God should be and how they think God should act.  They have created a false god with false attributes.  That is idolatry.

Well good thing you lucked out and just so happen to worship the correct god eh?

How to get started in bulk:
Presto 23-Quart Pressure Cooker
BOD's Simple as FUCK Still Air Box
PastyWhyte's Easy Agar Tek
Munchauzen's Cultivation Video Series
How EvilMushroom666 Prepares His Grains (I use jars with Synthetic Filter Discs)
What is G2G? (Grain-to-Grain)
Damion5050's Coir Tek (I use 5.5 - 6 quarts of water instead of 4. Also ignore step 13 and ignore the monotub completely. The only purpose of this tek is to show you how to make a simple substrate. I also add gypsum to it but not necessary)
Spitball's Monotub Tek (A liner isn't necessary but is useful)
Use 6500k lights throughout the whole process. When you wake up, turn the light on. When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.

When someone speaks with passion about the wrath of eternal torment, I always smile.

It's another example of our tendencies towards lunacy
