Obama airstrike killed mostly civilians
    #11003075 -

More than 70 people reportedly died in the strike on hijacked fuel tankers.

Reporting from Kabul, Afghanistan, and Istanbul, Turkey -- In an incident that could seriously undermine the central U.S. aim in Afghanistan, dozens of civilians were killed or injured early Friday in a NATO airstrike, Afghan authorities said.

The predawn strike on a pair of hijacked fuel tankers in a remote part of northern Kunduz province killed more than 70 people, most of them civilians, according to Afghan police, provincial officials and doctors.

Dozens of villagers suffered serious burns in the massive fireball ignited when the tankers were hit, they said.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is investigating the incident, which comes at a time of deepening political turmoil in Afghanistan. Tensions are running high as votes are tallied in the country's disputed presidential election.

In the initial hours after Friday's strike in Kunduz, Western military officials expressed confidence that nearly all those killed were insurgents.

But later reports trickling in from the scene painted a grim picture of impoverished villagers being engulfed by the explosion while trying to siphon fuel from the stranded tankers.

In one of the most contentious cases, Afghan officials said about 140 civilians were killed in airstrikes in May outside the western village of Garani; the U.S. military acknowledged about half that number and said most were insurgents.

Its soooo weird that we’re not hearing any calls for Obama to be tried for war crimes over this, as they did when Bush was President.....

For the record I'm not an Obamabot,I don't trust any of our elected officials any further than I can throw them, and yes it is the U.S that contributes the most to that huge waste of resources and human life, however, I don't feel that shoveling all of the blame onto Obama is fair, it isn't his war, he didn't start it Bush did. Calling in an airstrike on diesel tankers was as stupid as it gets and hopefully someones head roles for it.

I agree to some extent there, He did say he would get our people out of there, and it doesn't seem like there is much progress being made. But the fact is that if Bush hadn't put us there to begin with we wouldn't be there now, fact is, it didn't even start with Bush, it started when Russia invaded Afghanistan and we went in making lots of promises and didn't follow through. As soon as Russia pulled out so did we and it's not the first time that that's happened. If we were smart we'd just mind our own business and let people solve their own problems

Great post, it is good that people are paying attention to this stuff. Obama definitely is a puppet if you ask me... otherwise he would be bringing attention to the innocent killings that just occurred.

i don't think Obama is plotting evil doings... i just think he is a puppet. he is buckling under the pressure his corrupt advisors, such as Rahm Emanual, are putting on him if you ask me...

it boggles my mind that some people think that Obama has some evil agenda just sitting on his desk. it is his advisors and the advisors of the advisors that determine the agendas that Obama must go along with.

Rahm Emanuel is Obama's CHIEF OF STAFF advisor. he is also a dual-citizen with Israel, and his father fought against Palestininans during the on-going Middle Eastern conflict.

some things to look into are Rahm Emanual, American-Israeli dual-citizenship in our government, AIPAC (American-Israeli Public Affairs Committee).

here is a link to an article talking about how there are many American-Israel dual citizens in our government (including presidential advisors), but absolutely zero Mexican-American dual citizens in our government: http://www.viewzone.com/dualcitizen.html

I now believe more than ever that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were planned and orchestrated by a corrupt network of people, as an event to strike fear of 'Arab terrorists' and 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' (which we never found) into the hearts of Americans so that our government would start a war with the Arab countries of the Middle East in order to destabilize the region (and for oil), allowing Israel to continue knocking down Palestinian homes so they could continue expanding (unfairly) into the remaining Palestinian territories of West Bank and Gaza. They are now expanding at the most alarming rate since the creation of the State Of Israel in 1948. Not only are we helping Israel by conducting military operations in the Middle East, but we are also helping them by giving them billions of hard-earned tax-dollars despite the fact that America is in the worst economic crisis EVER in our planet's history.

I BELIEVE THIS WITH ALL OF MY INTELLECT, AND ALL OF MY HEART, NOW MORE THAN EVER.

I do not believe that Israel is necessarily the cause of the problem though. I believe there are some extremely wealthy 'string-pullers' that have interests in Israel that I do not fully understand, but they most likely seem to be tied to religious beliefs and the religious history of the land that Israel was built upon. Some of the people that I believe to be the 'string-pullers' are the Rothschild family, and the Rockefeller family (they own one of the world's largest oil companies, called 'Standard Oil'). These extremely wealthy families are heavily involved with influencing politics, funding lobbying and the writing of policies and legislation, influencing the largest mainstream media companies, and they were even involved with the building of the Supreme Court of Israel.

A painting of the Rothschild family seated around a prototype of the Supreme Court of Israel:

I am not trying to cast the blame on just one person or family here. Religion is also to blame, in addition to a multitude of factors which we may never know, and never really need to know. Plus, blame is useless unless it improves the situation...

I am just trying to say that I am not just some unintelligent punk who is a firm believer in every conspiracy theory that comes his way.

Many of the people who share the beliefs I have, regarding Israel, also are so crazy that they believe that the 'string-pullers' are actually an evil, parasitic Reptilian alien-race, which owns the human race and uses us as slaves to feed off of our children and drink our blood. I do not believe in such crap, for there is no evidence to suggest that this is the case. Contrastingly, there are STOCKPILES of evidence supporting what I believe in regards to Israel, 9/11 attacks, the War in Iraq, etc.

I believe the things I just stated with all of my rationality, all of my logic, all of my commonsense, all of my heart, all of my mind, all of my body, and all of my spirit.

Sincerely,

From the article you posted:

Quote:
The incident could increase the strain on ties among NATO allies, further complicating the troubled war effort. The strike was called in by German troops, who make up the bulk of Western forces in Kunduz. Involvement in such a controversial act could depress already flagging domestic support in Germany for the Afghan mission.

Not long ago, Kunduz, near the border with Tajikistan, was considered a relatively quiet corner of the country, making it a logical base for German forces, who operate under strict "caveats" limiting their engagement in active combat. But insurgents in recent months have made increasingly bold forays into the area.

A Western military official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss details of the airstrike, said the destruction of the hijacked tankers was considered a matter of urgency because it was feared that they could be used to launch suicide strikes on a German base close by.

That's some critical information you left out when labeling this incident an "Obama airstrike". It doesn't even mention Obama in the article and you don't mention NATO in your post which leads me to believe you're just trying to make attention-grabbing posts. Even if American warplanes were used, "NATO airstrike killed mostly civilians" is the more accurate description. It's a terrible incident.

The September 11 attacks caused NATO to invoke Article 5 of the NATO Charter for the first time in its history. The Article says that an attack on any member shall be considered to be an attack on all. The invocation was confirmed on 4 October 2001 when NATO determined that the attacks were indeed eligible under the terms of the North Atlantic Treaty.[23] The eight official actions taken by NATO in response to the attacks included Operation Eagle Assist and Operation Active Endeavour. Operation Active Endeavour is a naval operation in the Mediterranean Sea and is designed to prevent the movement of terrorists or weapons of mass destruction as well as to enhance the security of shipping in general. It began on 4 October 2001.

Germany currently has the third-largest number of forces in the ISAF and their Parliament has authorized their deployment every year since it began. It's the first time German infantry has gone on a foreign offensive since World War 2 and they have participated in some U.S. campaigns.

Also, the German elections take place this month, which is being offered by some as an explanation for why their bases in northern Afghanistan have been coming under attack more frequently.

What is the relevance of your question? I have no idea if they declared war on Afghanistan. It makes no difference anyways.
