Exercise the ability to control your thought... please leave any REASONABLE criticism
    #8524150 -

It seems abstract in many circles of society that one can choose the thoughts that they are entertaining constantly and only think of desirable ideas. The more wealth a person has, the more knowledge of the fact that one does ultimately choose their own ideas becomes more apparent. The more impoverished a person is, the more obvious it is to an individual inspecting the situation that they are not in control of their thoughts. Wealth alone does not indicate ones ability to control thoughts, this is just a generalization, there are few who are wealthy who do not know how to control their thoughts, but if monitored, it would be apparent that they had the "right" thoughts genetically and environmentally inherited. It should also be noted that just because a person has a considerable amount of wealth does not mean that they hold flawless and moral thoughts which can be expressed through the lack of consideration of the subjection of the lower classes in their financial and personal institutes and endeavors. Let us come back from this digression of venting of emotions and look back upon the idea of controlling ones thoughts and all that can be gained from doing so.

If one could control every single thought that they entertained, they could be in complete control of their destiny in life. Let us allude this to Lucid dreaming and regular dreaming; they are both the same action with different associations to them. In a regular dream it seems as if one can determine the the next action in the dream, but can have no control over preventing that action from occurring, therefore are being passive in the dream state. A Lucid dream, which is a dream inspired by conscious will is completely different however. The whole environment can be chosen and the situations will be narrated in the mind the same as in a regular dream, however the dreamer can choose if they wish to continue falling off the cliff or immediately have their fall broken by a cloud so to say. So bringing this allusion back to thinking, if an individual is not controlling the thought that they are entertaining, then they can not decide their personal outcome and it is usually decided by a source outside of their mind which uses subconscious cues to direct the thought process, which is known as propaganda. Most are completely oblivious to this and consider the negative thoughts that they have been associated with a natural occurrence of life. It has been said by many who have been chronically experiencing some sort of physical shape that once the ailment had been removed that they felt alot better and had forgotten to expect to feel so good on a regular basis; they forget that the pain isn't normal. Once the individual does choose to control their own thoughts at every given moment, it feels as if numerous burdens have been lifted and they are actually able to breathe easier and stand more erect with an overall better outlook on life. One is able to breathe easier and stand more erect because it has been shown that negative thoughts actually cause the muscles to tense up and prevents healthy circulation which can breed numerous health problems. So it could be added that alot can be told about a person by simply observing their posture and breathing; this is because the thoughts within have manifested, or brought about, the circumstances without in the overall physical composition of the being. Thoughts go much further than the body as can be easily explained.

The timid child without any knowledge of thought control will be bullied and picked on for their features and characteristics, which then they will accept that this is just a natural occurring phenomenon of life. The timid child will grow into a timid teenager with hunched shoulders and a constant shortness of breath and will expect bad things to happen because they comfort this individual in a very twisted way. If asked, they would most likely reply that they do not appreciate the phenomena occurring in their life, but they have grown so attached to these happenings that they would be in absolute shock if they were to somehow impossibly all of a sudden have good things happening with no change of thinking or command given to the will that these phenomena occur. This young adult would hypothetically grow up to be an adult who was most likely in debt, always made negative comments about everything, kept to themselves, blame their environment for all things occurring within their life, be at a dead end job, have impossible aspirations of somehow becoming a millionaire overnight and being automatically endowed with happiness without any effort upon their mind. This phenomenon should be called the Cinderella effect, even though we should be sure that if such a story were real, the daughter-maid would have put a lot of conscious thought into becoming rescued from such undesirable situations. None should be expected to experience negative thoughts, the mind can be turned into a work of art with some effort of the individual

So now that it should be apparent that thoughts determine us as individuals, how is it that we should control such thoughts? Effort, as previously stated is required as well as want of changing and an abundant imagination. The process of changing the mind is ongoing and will never stop for any reason unless the individual chooses to do so. If such a case were to occur, then far worse things are susceptible to happen to the individual because they "know better" than to act in such a manner. It should be warned, that once starting, one cannot go back to the way things were which certainly would be more comforting on a minute-to-minute basis; on an overall scale however, it is much more gratifying to know that one is in control of their own thoughts. There is alot of effort in the beginning of the individual to change if they expect it, but as time progresses in a linear sense, the effort becomes automatic and is not so difficult to produce. For there to be effort, the individual must want to change. the change absolutely must be imagined before it can take place, otherwise there will be no foundation for the idea to build off of and it will sink back into the abyss as a mansion would sink into the ground if the foundation was one of mud. It is apparently obvious that any reader who has gotten to this line has enough interest to want a change so that step shall not be explained because text only appeals to those who see a benefit in it, and this particular text is centered around one idea, mind control.

The effort required must be constant, we should compare this exchange of ideas as an exchange of grooves on a record supposing that there was not one spiraling groove instead very many. If there were no effort exerted upon the needle to change it's course, it would infinitely follow the groove that it were set on and a want of hearing a different set of notes would not be sufficient enough to actually change the the groove. A force has to be exerted upon the needle for the change to occur. In this example the force is effort, the needle is your brain, and the groove is a set of ideas or conditions. So to put it all together in a single sentence, effort must be applied to your mind in order to change a given idea or condition. This effort is concentration. Everyone concentrates, some people more than others and that it what makes the difference between so called ordinary and extraordinary people. Everyone is the same, just in different ways and there is no such thing as an extraordinary person unless they have been genetically altered. Einstein for example, concentrated on things like atoms and complicated mathematics while Edison is mainly known for concentrating on electricity. They both obviously put alot of effort into their projects and were well known for it. Nothing is different about them from people today except that they put in alot of effort. They had to imagine such things as being possible before they could actually manifest them into reality however, which shall be discussed next.

Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.
- Albert Einstein

Obviously Einstein would agree with my claim that change must be imagined before it can take place. For instance, there is a person walking a tightrope between two skyscrapers. There will obviously be two immediate thoughts as he is crossing the rope; one, they are thinking of safely reaching the other side; two, they are thinking of how instantly they would die if by chance they happened to fall. The scenario that they are imagining in a situation as immediately as this would most likely determine the outcome of this unusual walk. So in such an instance it is obvious that imagination literally is a preview of what is to come because if the person imagined falling the entire length of their walk, they would not make it to the other side before an inevitable mistake caused them to plummet to their death. So now we shall put every step in rhythmic order once again to enforce the idea that it will be impressed upon the mind; imagination leads an individual to foresee the outcome of a situation which upon the effort of their will they concentrate on the desirable outcome to occur for a majority of the situation's unfolding and that outcome will most likely manifest right before the individuals eyes and they might just be astounded. In mathematical terms, imagination + (effort + concentration) = results. This LAW of consciousness should be tested on smaller things before put to work on larger things and applies to any part of existence from changing ones thought processes to changing ones work situation. An example of an easy test to the law so that one may become more acquainted with it would be to imagine seeing a certain item that is not ordinarily seen, but seen enough to where it could be considered a coincidence. then concentrate on seeing it for about fifteen minutes and put effort into the concentration, did you see the item? If not keep trying until you one day do. Would you say that it was a coincidence? Eventually the probability of things being coincidences is so minuscule that one comes to the realization that there is no such thing as a coincidence and to believe so is an illusion. Thank you for you time and please exercise your right to think.

There are just too many words here.

Maybe this is a personal prejudice of mine, or maybe sound logic, but when I see that many words in a post I assume there is no clear point to it, that it's just a lot of convoluted rambling.  I'm not willing to read that all to find out if I'm right.

Could you boil all of that down to a concise point or question?

Welcome evermore to gods and men is the self-helping man.  For him all doors are flung wide: him all tongues greet, all honors crown, all eyes follow with desire.  Our love goes out to him and embraces him, because he did not need it.

A few things here:

1. You should do brief research on Rational-Emotive Therapy, which was developed by Albert Ellis. Your second paragraph is very similar to the premise of this type of psychological therapy.
2. For clarity, you should describe what a thought is. Are you referring just to conscious imagination or to everything that occurs in the mind?
3. What about unconscious thoughts? (Although, you might not consider anything unconscious a thought.)

You raise some valid and important points there.

I disagree that negative thoughts aren't natural. I feel they should be just as natural as a positive thought. Also, it seems like you're talking about some sort of self-actualization, which sounds good but it can't be proven (or hasn't).

ok, thank you for all of your replies. To make it sweet and simple, people don't know how to control their thoughts and this text is merely a method to achieving such thing. The simplest way to express such method is "imagination + (effort + concentration) = results" the results obviously are the ability to control one's thoughts.

For the second reply, thank you for the information I honestly haven't heard of such a thing and will most likely gain from reading about it. I am referring a thought to everything that occurs in the conscious mind. Unconscious thoughts are the grooves that I speak of, and they are changed when this method is applied over as course of time. It should be added that they must be changed for any substantial effect to install itself in the conscious thought process.

I'm apologize, I should have chosen different words then to say that negative thoughts aren't natural, if they weren't I don't see how they could exist. What I meant was that it should not be natural for one to fix their thought processes overall on negative thoughts and be influenced so heavily by them. I really don't understand what you mean by your last statement about self actualization, for some reason the combination of words isn't registering to me as one thought so could you please reword it because I am interested to hear what you have to say.

(sorry for a long reply)
