islam is an organised religion following a tyrannical deity (much like christianity and judaism), and i have no time for it. the qu'ran is probably the most hate-filled book i have ever read.

Faith is sweet to whoever said it sucked. It just depends on what you have it for. Religion is the ultimate opiate but its only that way because people are so greedy and stupid. Jesus was a cool guy, but those damn christians made love something worth killing for. Muhammad had much less going for him, virgins were a must.

Hmmm...many speakings of prophets were tainted later by others for bad missusual issues.
I have the feeling, that the Qur'an is especially open for misuse, but I have not figured out yet how and why, as I am at the beginning of my study.
I want to read it in the most original words, that Mohamed could have stated. But I didn't reach so far yet...

Indeed. Religion is created entirely out of basic human nature, and it's not a surprise that this human nature comes back out in strange ways from the religion.

There are two types of Jihad against the Kuffar

1- Offensive Jihad
2- Defensive Jihad

1- Offensive Jihad is when the Muslims launch an offensive attack. If this attack is on the Kuffar who have previously received the message of Islam, then to call them towards Islam before commencement of the attack is considered preferable.

However, if the message of Islam has not reached them, then the Kuffar will be invited towards Islam. If they reject this true faith, then they will have to pay Jizyah (Kufr tax). If they refuse to submit to the payment of Jizyah then the Muslims are to fight against them. With this type of Jihad the Kuffar who plot against the Muslims are repelled and their hearts are filled with fear, so that they do not succeed in their plans.

The offensive Jihad is Fardh Kifayah, the purpose of which is to ensure the Kuffar remain terrorised and away from mischief, thereby, allowing the message of Islam to be conveyed without any obstructions.

If one group of Muslims fulfil this obligation then it will be sufficient on behalf of all Muslims, but if there are no Muslims fulfilling this obligation then everyone is considered sinful.

It is stated in Fatawa Shami: It is required of the Imam (leader) of the Muslims to dispatch the army routinely once or twice a year towards the Kufr countries. It is also the duty of the Muslim public to assist the Imam in this noble cause. If the Imam does not send an army, then he will considered sinful.

The majority of Jihad undertaken at the time of our Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) was within the category of offensive Jihad.

The Quran has called upon the Muslims to undertake the offensive Jihad and when this obligation is satisfactorily fulfilled there would be no apparent need for the defensive Jihad.

When Muslims neglect this important obligation then they are subjected to the defensive Jihad and this has become, with regret, widely common in our time.

Things were done differently a millenia and a half ago eh?

It's odd the archaic beliefs a religion can take along with it through the centuries. Christianity has many crazy archaic things too if you've ever read the Bible.

Islam is maybe evil by christian standards of good and evil, and christianity may be evil by islam standards of good and evil.

On west beating people is considered bad, there it is not.
That means morality changes territorially.

you should check out RUMI
this sufi (Islamic) mystic poet puts it together at least as well as Buddha, Christ or the Baal Shem Tov - even more beautifully and humanely.

the enemy is always ignorance and hatred and greed not religion or culture.

building animosity against any culture is always ignorant.
some stanzas in all religious texts are easy to misinterpret and steer into ignorant hateful dogma.

jihad is religious war against the arising of hate or greed within our selves. all other interpretations of infidel are ignorant and jihad chops those heads off too.

it is only a personal spiritual war of transformation of the self.
it has nothing to do with metal swords or killing or hurting other people.

that said, many muslims have not been shown the true beauty of their own heritage and do think killing might bring them to heaven.

People from different places think and do differently...There's no point getting all racist and biggoted about it.

Noone has any right to dictate the beliefs of others. Terrorist preaching Islam aren't Muslims, they're Fundamentalist Terrorist Mentalists.

In my opinion, the real truth is that all religious teaching is meant to be metaphorical but it's only the thinking minority who actually grasp that; unfortunately the masses go for literal interpretations.
