Beautiful jar Skansk :rockon:

I know Pheno said they are Natalensis, but unless you have received Natalensis from anyone I'm pretty sure they are ochra as well.

Tax: Albino Semilanceata in the wild one year before I knew what a clone or agar was :cryariver:

Oh man it's not about the usual NAT/Ochra confusion, I can differentiate the two since quite a while back but these were grown from the x7x spores you sent me a long time ago:crazyeyes:... So they're supposed to be Cubensis and from the same spores you've grown x7x from but this was what I got and they look so incredibly Ochra-like that I am confused over what I've grown, especially since I inoculated these on their own and spawned them together with an actual Ochra which turned out to be an actual Ochra so my head's spinning man:awesome:

This stuff is un-shakable, tried shaking a jar yesterday (beat the crap out of it) and only a few grains here and there separated :shrug:


its a slow process, been going for 2 weeks now, but dropping agar wedges gives a certain peace of mind :bongload:


Inoculated on July 11th



Rye grains were cooked slowly for about an hour, rinsed, dropped into cold water in a huge pot then brought to a boil gradually over a time span of 30-40min then boiled on a slow simmer for 10-15 minutes. There were more than a few burst grains here and there but nothing that would cause concern, a day after sterilization the grains inside each jar would individually separate at the the slightest tilt of the jar so the grain prep isnt an issue here, perhaps just slow a growing culture? I mean It didnt grow slow on agar so I guess maybe this is just the speed that its supposed to go in IDK, havent done agar wedges to grain before :shrug:

Hell yeah majeta we making same learning steps kinda same time in a week il be doing my first gar to grains lol gonna be tons of learning and experience to get for me.

Getting used to my PC. The weight arrived today lol also getting used to rye.

Legit I only need one successful run in my PC of grains to know that fucking PC ain't cursed then il lock in grains hella easy lol just need one fuckin win to learn from hands on ๐Ÿ™

How successful your bulk grow with grains is wont tell you anything about your PC :super:
The gauge on your PC will tell you what the temperature of the boiling water inside is, and when it reads 15 PSI the temp inside is 120C, which means your PC isnt cursed :takingnotes:

I also have qt jars with the same batch of grain's inoculated with the same cultures only after I made LI with those and injected it into the jars throught the injection port and those jars are equally unshakable :shrug: also the myc in those jars looks equally healthy as all the other ones so Im pretty sure this isnt a sick or weak culture or bacterial grains

Nocced with LI on the same day July 11th



I have used agar wedges as inoculant for a decade just not for grains, I've used it for cakes, Liquid cultures, other types of substrates and so on so my learning curve on agar wedge inoculation might not be that steep :lol:

The grains look like they should be shakeable to me, I wouldnโ€™t expect them to look like this and stick together. At this point of growth shaking them will definitely help with colonization.

If you want to try again Iโ€™d suggest the wheat/rye prep that I took from a thread here and have been using very successfully:

I wash my grains with cold water and a bit of dish soap first because I buy animal feed so thereโ€™s plenty of dust, grime and small particles that come off the rinse.

Then straight to the pot on high heat until the water boils, then I lower the heat to maintain a gentle boil for 10 minutes. At the 10 min mark turn off the heat (and move the pot away if using an electric heater that will stay very hot) and let the grains soak for 10 more mins. Pour the grains in a colander to get rid of all the water, load in jars immediately and start the PC process. Total processing time once you get to a boil is 10 mins of boiling and 10 mins of soaking.

This saves a lot of time and I get some burst grains but not many, the amount probably depends more on how many cracked grains were in the bag already. Just make sure that you drain them in a colander or a big sieve so youโ€™re not pouring water into the jar along with the grains. Theyโ€™ll come off the pot not quite fully hydrated, but the moisture thatโ€™s left on the grains will be enough to finish hydrating them during the PC cycle.

I know this may sound like youโ€™re risking incomplete sterilization, but this method hasnโ€™t failed me ever and Iโ€™ve done hundreds of jars this way, with a couple test jars that I didnโ€™t inoculate and they remained sterile for months.

As I mentioned the rye grains are perfectly prepped and they separate individually at the slightest tilt of the jar, but the colonized parts seem impossible to break up, only a few grain here and there separate even after a hefty beating of the jar :shrug:

This is the case both for the jars nocced with agar wedges and the ones nocced with LI. Very robust, strong myc growth holding on the rye grain for its dear life seems :shrug:

Some grains like brown rice in general just be super consolidated with certain fungi n others not so much

Poured a bunch more plates. Feels great to be back at it. Super duper stoked.


Made a kitchen drawer for cult. Not pictured is the big media bottles. Was so nice to just pull em out and have everything right next to the stove.



Knocked the double stack over within 90m of pouring. They were still too soft to survive it, had to toss. Boooo.


Gonna try and proper soak/birth the one cake that didn't fruit in the jar. Filled it with water. It was floating a bit so I put a ball of foil to hold it down. Seemed to work a treat.


Made some fahtlocks with two month old coir/jars. Oldest batch I've ever used but the hydration was perfect and it smelled good as new.



I usually compress hard AF when making shoeboxes, so I figured since they're ziplocks, I can just sit on em. Super compressed, super even surface. Swan dog bout. Lotta more pics in the grow log.
