Forgive me father. 


Ive never done pf tek. 
My first grows were spores directly into grain
I didnt know until like 2 weeks ago that youre supposed to vent your pc when FlawdaKraka enlightened me
I stabbed myself in the finger with a jmf syringe and the tip of my glove filled with blood and all my plates contam'ed.
Ive never made LC and im scared to try. 
I had a glove box when i started this hobby in 2005 and i set it on fire with acohol and my torch.

im sure theres more.

i feel better now. 


please confess your sins dont let me do this alone

I leave my Petri dishes open while I’m working in the SAB and don’t really work with care to air movement.
I’ve also wiped the Petri dish with the blade to get the agar piece off.

The first time i made plates i knocked over an entire stack of like 20 plates and burned the fuck out of myself.

edit: because my roommates gf walked in on me and thought i was making meth.

I take terrible spore prints because cleaning shit up on agar isn't a big deal, and I don't have any mushers worth sharing yet.

In the middle of the night, usually high, I will do some work in the sab without doing half the sanitizing steps.  Only if I deem it safe, and I have a decent idea of what that means.  Yet I'm new so what the hell do I really know?

I think those are all my blasphemies.

If you've never grown mushrooms before, here's how you start.  First, follow the Updated PF Tek, put 4 holes in jar lids not 1, and use a water tub! 
The next move is Shoebox Tek. After that you move onto grains, agar, monotubs.  Agar is easy, just do it.

my first attempt at cult was scraping spores from a wild shroom into a jar of honey water in open air

i tried sterilizing grain by steaming it for two hours

i built an automated terrarium and proudly posted it here

I've also never done PF Tek... Started with Uncle Ben's with spores directly to grain.

I got a new seal and overpressure plug for my PC, and the other day I realized my overpressure plug was missing as the PC was at a rolling boil. Well, I gave myself a little steam burn taking the lid off to put the plug in.  Luckily, it didn't blister.

I bought some SHIPs that I'll probably never use.  And, a temperature controller that I'll probably never use again.

I still need to clean out my closet too from a grow I did last year :facepalm:

Oh yeah.. I'm the biggest procrastinator too!  Been meaning to get in the SAB for a couple weeks now.  Tonight! (But that's what I always say :lol:)

I still don't wrap my plates at all. Still just get the agar wedge off the scalpel by scraping it against the edge of the plate. Then knock it around to get it into the middle.

After some introductory PF tek, I started with spores straight to grain and convinced myself it worked fine for about a year. I read a bunch of stuff here about how it was a bad idea, and just dimissed it as OCD paranoia. Then disaster struck, and I had to reconsider. I also started off spraying my SAB with lysol, and kept that up for way too long as well. And also went through a "work in the bathroom" phase.

Lately, I'm trying to improve my workflow to get to my spawn faster. This is after hitting rock bottom, aka multiple tubs that I dumped spawn into and then let sit for more than a month, sometimes two, long enough that I had to pick them before spawning. More than once. I just finished spawning some jars that thankfully didn't sit in the tubs for too long, but they were still almost 5 months old.

I'm too scared to try liquid culture. I don't really care. More troubling is that after years of cultivation, I've taken maybe a couple dozen prints total. Mainly just because I lack confidence and keep putting it off. Even though all the ones I've scraped have worked out just fine. That's my other 2023 resolution. Make fucking prints. Or swabs. Or whatever.

me too. i say it every night, but once i start thinking about breaking everything out and all
the wiping that will follow im just scroll shroomery for hours instead.

i dont know what ships are. 

i also had some crackpot automated tub that involved a ultrasonic fogger (a halloween gimick) and a fish tank air pump and a bunch of tubing and oh my god it had those pink respirator filters on it and oh jesus i dont want to even talk about this anymore.

dude we are very similar cultivators it seems.  I remember when mushboy was a noob and now hes far far surpassed me.  I tell myself bullshit like "well maybe he just has more freetime than i do"
but if we are being honest here, it isnt true.  Im just lazy and havent challenged myself to learn new techniques in very long time.  also im stupid and he isnt.

I ALSO confess ive never made prints and I really want to.  lets make a pact to make some prints and trade them. 

i dont see how some of these guys keep the foil so pefectly unwrinkled.

oh my god i thought i was so clever.  i also have a bag of ships ill never use bc ill probably never make lc.

whats more embarassing is that after i realized the humidifier wasnt going to work for mushrooms, i used it in my guitar room and ruined like a 800$ guitar...

sometimes i hate myself truly.  these are the memories that my brain likes to bring up nightly as a power-point presentation when im trying to sleep.

"hey dumbfuck! oh im sorry were you trying to sleep?! hey, real quick, remeber that time you ruined a handmade clasical guitar with a humidifier you made with a halloween toy?"
